摘要： A coolant pump includes a pump frame, a driving wheel driven by an engine, a pump wheel driven by the driving wheel, and a clutch which couples the driving wheel with the pump wheel. The clutch comprises a friction surface arranged at the driving wheel, and a clutch disc which corresponds to the friction surface. The clutch disk is connected with and co-rotates with the pump wheel, and is axially shiftable between an engaged and a disengaged position. An axial pretension spring pretensions the clutch disc into the disengaged position. A permanent magnet forces the clutch disc into the engaged position. An electromagnet, when energized, generates a polarization which is opposite to a polarization of the permanent magnet to reduce a total magnetic attraction force of the permanent magnet with respect to the clutch disc and to thereby push the clutch disc into the disengaged position via the pretension spring.

A vane with a vane body and a vane end portion shifts in the guiding slot. The rotor body, the vane, and the circumferential pump room wall define at least two pump chambers. An oil discharge channel with a flow opening in a plane is arranged at the vane end portion of the vane and/or at the guiding slot. The flow opening opens so that oil can flow from a pump chamber through the oil discharge channel to the oil receiving cavity only in a retracted position of the vane end portion during a final compression phase of the respective pump chamber.

The control ring can be actuated to set an eccentricity of the control ring to define a volumetric pump performance. The control ring defines a pump chamber which is separated by the pump vanes into pumping compartments. The control ring includes a control ring main body, bushing rings which are arranged separately at a radial inside of the control ring main body, and a radial inlet opening and/or a radial outlet opening. The radial inlet opening and/or the radial outlet opening is/are arranged axially between the bushing rings.

The first and the second on-time interval of one pulse width modulation period are provided with different interval lengths if a defined effective duty cycle is lower than a first duty cycle threshold value so that one of the first and the second on-time interval has an interval length which is equal to or larger than a defined minimum on-time interval length. The phase current is measured during the first and/or second on-time interval with the defined minimum on-time interval length.
