    • A hybrid bitmap-mode video coding system encodes and decodes a plurality of video frames with optimized coding performance. The coding system filters a video frame to determine an appropriate encoding mode. In response to the video frame to be encoded in bitmap-mode, the coding system generates a bitmap and DCT-type data of the video frame. The bitmap data of the video frame are encoded losslessly to keep the high quality of the video frame. The DCT-type data of the video frame are encoded with compression. The bitmap-mode encoding enables the coding system to flexibly encode part of a video frame data lossless and encode the rest of the frame data lossy. As such, the lossless encoding of the frame provides high quality of important data of the frame, and at the same time maintains high compression ratio on less important data of the frame.

The pulmonary disease in the subject can be hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction, pulmonary edema, pulmonary hypertension, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, interstitial fibrosis, high altitude residence, sleep apnea syndrome, atrial septal defects, and pulmonary diseases associated with other conditions. If this same compound is modified so that R1, R2 or R3 each independently is a C1 to C6 alkyl and the compound is not a carbonic acid inhibitor, it can be administered to a subject to block hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction and/or prevent high altitude pulmonary edema. Additional aspects of the present invention include an inhalable composition comprising the compound of the above formula without modification and an inhalable carrier, as well as the above modified compound.

    • A system of and method for communicating control information between two or more entities over one or more backplane connections is described. The control information is stored in a layer of the packet above the physical layer and the packet is then communicated over the one or more backplane connections. A system of and method for performing load balancing over one or more backplane connections is also described. Control information for a packet is mapped into one or more identifiers of one or more of a plurality of backplane connections, and the packet is then communicated over the one or more identified backplane connections. A system of and method for extending the number of ports of a switch is further described. A first switch coupled to a second switch and having a greater number of ports than the second switch is provided. An identifier of a port of the first switch is stored in a layer of the packet above the physical layer. The packet is then communicated between the first and second switches.

    • Disclosed is a system and method for assembling a data packet. The system can be implemented as four memory elements associated with one or more processors. The first memory element stores a sequence number and a sub-channel identifier for an incoming data packet. The second memory element stores a revised packet fragment. The third memory element stores an unrevised packet fragment. The fourth memory element stores a starting address. In the system, the starting address may be the starting address of the revised packet fragment or the unrevised packet fragment wherein the first memory element identifies portions of the fourth memory element associated with the sequence number. The one or more processors are configured to create a modified data packet by combining the unrevised packet fragments and the revised packet fragment, wherein the modified data packet is associated with the sequence number and sub-channel identifier.

    • A packet switching device having a central shared memory and a number of medium access controllers each coupled to a communications medium to exchange data packets therewith, and a controller coupled to each medium access controller via a data path to exchange data packets with the media access controller. The controller has a number of data path controllers each connected to each medium access controller via a separate and like portion of the data path to exchange a corresponding portion of the data packets with the medium access controller. The data path controllers each have a number of buffers each connected to one of the medium access controllers to which the data path controller is connected, to hold the portion of the data packets exchanged with the corresponding medium access controller. Each data path controller has a selector that selects the buffer from which to transmit or receive the portion of the data packets with the central shared memory and control logic that controls the selector to concurrently select the buffer corresponding to the same medium access controller. A comparison engine associated with each data path controller detects the slice of a field in a data packet buffered in the corresponding data path controller and computes a hashing function on the contents of the slice of the field to generate a hash key. A packet forwarding controller reads one or more entries from a hash bucket in a forwarding database indexed by the hash key and sends the entries to the comparison logic. The comparison logic compares the slice of the field in the buffer to each of the entries and returns the results of the compare to a packet forwarding controller. The forwarding controller then forwards, filters or identifies packets based on the results of the comparisons done on each slice of a field in the packets.

    • A configuration for encoding and decoding the data is disclosed herein. A server retrieves webpage content to filter and extract text and image data. The text data is encoded using a lossless encoder, whereas the image data is downsampled to a lower resolution and encoded using a lossy encoder. The encoded text and image data is transmitted over a network. Once the encoded data is received on the client device, the text and image data is decoded using an inverse encoding algorithm and resized at a resolution appropriate to the native resolution of the display device.
