    • A rear view mirror assembly includes a mirror head tightly but turnably clamped to the distal end of a pole or staff mounted onto the fender of a large truck or bus. The mirror head has disposed within an interior chamber thereof socket means that form either a longitudinal bore to clampingly receive the distal end of the pole and permit rotational motion of the mirror head relative to the longitudinal axis of the pole or a ball socket for seating the ball portion of a ball socket member connected to the distal end of the pole and permit swivel motion of the mirror head relative to the longitudal axis of the pole. Tightening means, exterior in part to the interior chamber, move from a first position wherein the mirror head may turn relative to the pole and into a second position to orient the mirror head into a desired position and fixedly clamp the mirror head in that position.

    • A magnetic resonance imaging assembly is provided. The assembly includes a magnet assembly defining a scanning bore along a z-direction. The assembly further includes a surface coil assembly positioned within the scanning bore. The surface coil assembly receives an imaging field. The surface coil assembly comprises a first surface coil positioned along the z-direction. The first surface coil is induced with a first coil current comprised of a first coil amplitude and a first coil phase. The surface coil assembly includes a second surface coil positioned along said z-direction. The second surface coil is induced with a second coil current comprised of a second coil amplitude and a second coil phase. The second coil phase is varied from the first coil phase to correct asymmetries within the imaging field.

    • A method of forming a torque tube (64) is provided. The method includes forming a fitting (80) having an elongated tube conforming area (88). The conforming area (88) includes chamfer areas (82) having upper surfaces (90), lower surfaces (92), and chamfer surfaces (94) that transition between the upper surfaces (90) and the lower surfaces (92) and have chamfer angles (96) of approximately 20 relative to the lower surfaces (92). An elongated tube (86) is procured and an end portion (106) of the elongated tube (86) is formed onto the conforming area (88) to form a torque-transmitting coupling (84). The torque tube (64) is also provided and formed according to the above-stated method.

    • A method of improving aircraft seating efficiency is provided, including positioning a first plurality of seating rows within a first region of an aircraft interior. The first region comprises a first aircraft width and each of the first plurality of seating rows comprises a uniform first quantity of standard aircraft seats. The standard aircraft seats have a standard aircraft seat width. The method further includes locating a tapered region of said aircraft interior having a second aircraft width. The second aircraft width is sufficiently less than the first aircraft width such that the first quantity of standard aircraft seats cannot fit within the tapered region. The method includes positioning a second plurality of seating rows within the tapered region. Each of the second plurality of seating rows includes a second quantity of standard aircraft seats having the standard aircraft seat width. The second quantity of standard aircraft seats is aligned with the first quantity of standard aircraft seats to form a plurality of aircraft columns. The method includes positioning at least one reduced dimension youth aircraft seat within one of the second plurality of seating rows to increase a net aircraft passenger capacity.
