    • An electrical circuit and method for switching an input voltage onto a load by way of an AC control voltage is provided. A voltage magnitude reduction circuit is configured to be driven by the AC control voltage. A rectifier circuit is operably coupled with the voltage magnitude reduction circuit. Also, a voltage limiter circuit is operably coupled with the rectifier circuit, and an energy storage circuit is operably coupled with the voltage limiter circuit. The voltage magnitude reduction circuit, the rectifier circuit, the energy storage circuit and the voltage limiter circuit cooperatively generate a switch control voltage. An electronic switching unit is then configured to switch the input voltage across the load when the switch control voltage is active. In one embodiment, the input voltage is a DC voltage generated by an AC-to-DC voltage converter circuit configured to convert an AC supply voltage to the DC voltage.

    • A vacuum cup actuator for applying and releasing vacuum to a workpiece engaging vacuum cup wherein a housing provides a passageway for communicating vacuum to the vacuum cup, and a vacuum is actuated in response to the relative position of the vacuum cup with respect to the housing. A piston is slidably disposed within a stepped bore of the housing, and a valve is slidably disposed within the piston for relative movement therein. A valve cover is connected to the piston and disposed above the valve. The passageway extends through a port provided through a side wall of the housing and extends through the piston and the valve to the vacuum cup. A flexible seal is circumferentially connected to the valve for engaging and disengaging a shoulder of the piston thus closing and opening, respectively, the passageway. A quick connect releasable mount is provided for releasably connecting the vacuum cup to the valve to place the vacuum cup in communication with the passageway. The actuation of the vacuum may be reset and the workpiece released by introducing a pressurized fluid into the passageway for releasing vacuum from the vacuum cup and re-introducing vacuum to the passageway for resetting actuation of the vacuum.

    • A power actuated gripper for engaging and holding a workpiece wherein a cam surface is pivotally linked to a reciprocating actuator for actuating at least one of a first and second jaws between a clamped position, wherein the first and second jaws engage and hold the workpiece, and an unclamped position, wherein the first and second jaws disengage and release the workpiece. The reciprocating linear actuator provides a fluid motor with a piston and piston rod for providing linear reciprocal movement. The piston rod is connected to a coupling member which is pivotally connected to a pair of linkage members for each of the first and second jaws. A pair of lever arms are pivotally connected to the linkage members and are integral with a shaft link. The cam surface is formed on the shaft link and actuates a cam follower, biased toward the cam surface, connected to the first and second jaws. The first jaw moves linearly between the clamped and unclamped positions, and the second jaw provides a linkage portion and a swing arm wherein the linkage portion has a linear moving portion linked to the swing arm. The swing arm is rotatably connected to the pivot pin for simultaneous rotary movement with the pivot pin. A pair of microswitches contact the pivot pins connecting the linkage member and the lever arms to sense when the gripper is in the clamped and unclamped positions.

    • A coupling unit is provided for removably connecting a fluid control component in a fluid supply line. The coupling unit includes a member for supporting at least one such component and includes an aperture through which the component extends and in which it is held in fluid-tight relationsip with the inlet and outlet thereof being in communication with passageways extending from the aperture to an inlet and outlet of the member for connection in a fluid line. In one embodiment the member is provided with a plurality of apertures in fluid communication for receiving fluid control components, such as a valve, a filter, a regulator and a lubricator connected in series. The inlet and outlet ends of the coupling unit can be made to removably receive threaded inserts provided with different thread types so that the coupling unit can be attached to fluid lines having different threads. In a further embodiment the unit comprises a yoke having two opposed open-ended portions in fluid communication and one or more mating elements which are attachable to one or both of the open-ended portions of the yoke to form an aperture through which a fluid control component can extend. If desired, the side walls of the apertures may be tapered to facilitate positioning the fluid control component having a similarly tapered body. The portion of the aperture adjacent the ports may be formed as flats which cooperate with a similar flat on the fluid control component so that one flat engages a seal on the other flat to form a fluid tight juncture.

    • A drain valve device is provided adapted for draining liquid contaminant such as oil and/or water, collected from compressed air or other gas. The valve is closable by the gas pressure and loaded to open when the pressure sufficiently falls to permit the discharge of collected contaminant. The device incorporates a captive contaminant outlet tube separate from the valve and manually displaceable to operate and open the valve against the gas pressure. The tube may project from the valve casing sufficiently to enable it to be gripped and displaced to operate the valve without the risk of contaminant or compressed gas coming into contact with the operator''s hand. An external drain pipe may be coupled to the tube and displaced from a remote position to operate the valve. The tube can be snapped into a captive position in relation to the valve casing while being axially displaceable relatively to the casing for operating the valve. The casing may comprise a skirt which is slotted and elastically expansible and provided with projections and a collar on the outlet tube can be forced past the projections to captivate the tube.
