    • A dual purpose optical device that is convertible between binocular and stereoscope modes of operation while using a common eyepiece arrangement for both. The device includes a housing containing a pair of optic supports mounted side-by-side for lateral movement towards and away from one another. Each support preferably carries three lenses. Two lenses on each support serve as the eyepiece and are aligned in a common plane with an eyepiece opening through the housing and a rotatable mirror assembly. The assembly pivots substantially ninety degrees from opposing forty-five degree angle positions with respect to the plane through the eyepiece opening and the eye and field lenses so as to fold the lines of sight either up or down within the housing. A circular photo transparency reel is received horizontally in a slot provided on an upper side of the housing. Each optic support is provided with three fixed mirrors which fold the lines of sight directed downward by the rotating mirror through an objective lens located at an opposite end of the housing. The three lenses on each optic support collectively form a binocular lens train while two of the lenses of each set form a magnifying lens train. A spring biases the optic supports together and against tapered, longitudinally extending sides of a cam mounted for longitudinal movement in the housing. A wheel projects partially through the bottom of the housing and supports pinions that are engaged with racks on the cam to provide manual interpupillary spacing adjustment of the optic supports. In the stereosope mode of operation, the interpupillary distance between the eyepieces is automatically set in response to converting between the two modes so that it matches the distance separating corresponding stereo pairs.

In one embodiment, the walk-in child playhouse comprises an enclosed rotomolded plastic structure having walls, a roof, and at least one chair or seat member pivotally attached to the playhouse. In another embodiment, the walk-in child playhouse has a garden party theme in which the roof has a canopy portion overhanging the rear of the house. Under the canopy are two chairs or seat members pivotally connected the rear wall and the roof via a pair of continuous bosses, the rear wall also having a substantially horizontally extending table disposed between the chairs and under the canopy. In another embodiment, the playhouse comprises a series of double-walled hollow parts that are interconnected by a unique snap interlock system. In yet another embodiment, the playhouse comprises a lateral connection member for joining various wall panels at a lower portion thereof. The playhouse may also include other features, such as a sink, stove, telephone and inside molded, non-pivotal seat and table surfaces.

    • An in-line roller skate for use by children has a stability enhancing mechanism and a movement limiting mechanism. The stability enhancing mechanism includes two rollers, mounted on an axle, that are selectively positionable side-by-side in a normal mode or spaced apart in a stable mode. A combine arm having two fingers pivots downward to cam the rollers inward from the stable to the normal mode. Alternately, a separator arm pivots downward to slide the two rollers apart on the axle from the normal mode to the stable mode. The movement limiting mechanism includes a roller, mounted on an axle, that has teeth formed on the radially inner surface of the cylindrical outer portion. A pawl has a pawl arm extending into the inner cylindrical portion of the roller to engage the teeth and a pawl tongue that extends into a pawl adjuster. The pawl adjuster has a retaining slot and is slidably positioned in a well in the front chassis of the skate to cam the pawl up into a nonengaging position, corresponding to the free wheeling mode. The pawl adjuster can also be positioned to allow the pawl to ride on the teeth of the roller, corresponding to the forward only mode, or to restrain the pawl in the engaging position, corresponding to the full stop mode.

    • A caster assembly for a traveling body has an automatic swivel lock that prevents the caster from swiveling when the caster is a trailing caster on the traveling body and allows the caster to swivel when the caster is a leading caster on the traveling body. The caster assembly includes a lock assembly pivotally mounted to support arms that extend from the swiveling wheel mount. A fixed locking member extends from the traveling body's frame to engage a locking lever extending from the lock assembly when the caster wheel is a trailing wheel on the traveling body. A cam follower engages a cam surface on the inside of the wheel to pivotally disengage the lock assembly from the locking member when the traveling body reverses direction so that the caster, which has become a leading caster, is free to swivel. Upon reversing direction again, the locking lever engages a camming surface on the locking member to pivot the locking lever inward so that the locking lever slips into a recess on the locking lever to prevent the caster wheel from swiveling. Thus, the caster mechanism automatically switches between locked and freely swiveling modes solely in response to a reversal in the direction of the traveling body.
