摘要： An assembly for an engine includes an ignition coil, a fastener, a spring member, and a resilient damper member. The ignition coil includes a main body and a mounting flange. The mounting flange defines a flange bore. The fastener includes a shaft and a head. The head extends radially outward from a first end portion of the shaft. The shaft extends through the flange bore such that a second end portion of the shaft protrudes from the flange bore. The second end portion of the shaft is threaded. The spring member is disposed about the first end portion of the shaft axially between the head and the mounting flange and biases the mounting flange axially away from the head. The resilient damper member is disposed about the shaft and configured to axially separate the mounting flange from an engine component to which the fastener couples the mounting flange.

摘要： A circuit configured to control a switching device to reduce a current in a charged coil is disclosed. The circuit is configured to monitor a kickback voltage generated by the decreasing current in the coil. The circuit is further configured to adjust a rate at which the current is reduced in order to limit the kickback voltage. Limiting the kickback voltage during shutdown can prevent a spark at a spark gap that is inductively coupled to the coil and can allow for greater flexibility in the time taken to shut down the coil without overheating components or generating an unwanted spark. Additional, limiting the kickback voltage during shutdown can allow for a pseudo ramp wave to control the circuit during the shutdown because voltage spikes cause by abrupt changes in the pseudo ramp wave are limited.

摘要： An igniter assembly comprising an ignition coil assembly connected to a firing end assembly by an extension, with a valve assembly disposed in a pressure chamber of the extension, is provided. The valve assembly includes a valve stem biased toward the ignition coil assembly by a spring to seal the pressure chamber. The valve assembly is used to evacuate contents from the pressure chamber by pressing the valve stem toward the spring and allowing contents of the pressure chamber to travel through and past the valve stem and out of the pressure chamber. The valve assembly is also used to fill the pressure chamber with an insulating medium by pressing the valve stem toward the spring and allowing the insulating medium to travel through and past the valve stem and into the pressure chamber after evacuating the contents out of the pressure chamber.

摘要： A primary coil former for an ignition coil has a winding carrier surface configured for a primary coil wound thereon. Two primary winding stops limit the winding carrier surface at first and second axial ends of the carrier surface, respectively. Two holders are formed at the first axial end, each configured for holding one end of a winding wire. Two deflection domes are formed at the second axial end, one of the domes configured for guiding a winding wire back to the winding carrier surface for a clockwise winding and the other dome configured for guiding a winding wire back to the winding carrier surface for a counterclockwise winding. A groove in the winding carrier surface receives a winding wire which leads from one of the ends of the winding carrier surface up to a gap between the two deflection domes at the opposite end of the winding carrier surface.
