摘要： A method for storing holographic data, said method comprising: step (A) providing an optically transparent substrate comprising a polymer composition and a light absorbing chromophore, said polymer composition comprising a continuous phase and a dispersed phase, said dispersed phase being less than about 200 nm in size; and step (B) irradiating a volume element of the optically transparent substrate with a holographic interference pattern, wherein the pattern has a first wavelength and an intensity both sufficient to cause a phase change in at least a portion of the dispersed phase within the volume element of the substrate to produce within the irradiated volume element refractive index variations corresponding to the holographic interference pattern, thereby producing an optically readable datum corresponding to the volume element.

摘要： The optical disc of the present invention includes a first translucent substrate having generally planar opposed top and bottom surfaces. The bottom surface is smooth and adapted to an optical beam for accessing data on the disc. The top surface of the first substrate has formed pits that represent data recorded on the disc. A reflective coating is formed on the top data surface of said first substrate to enable the top surface to reflect light back to an optical reader. A bonding agent is disposed over the reflective coating and a second substrate is bonded to the first substrate thought hot melt bonding. The second translucent substrate has a top surface incorporating a plurality of lenticules formed therein, and a bottom surface having an interlaced segmented lenticular image printed thereon. The method of the present invention provides that the top substrate incorporating lenticular imagery is hot melt bonded through use of a bonding agent to a bottom substrate bearing recorded data and a metalized layer for reflecting optical beams.

摘要： An optical data store is specified, having a data storage layer with a non-toxic and biodegradable polymer as light-sensitive storage medium which has photo-inducible anisotropy, for the induction of which a threshold value of the optical intensity has to be exceeded. The light-sensitive material is preferably bacteriorhodopsin which, by way of example, is immobilized in a manner embedded in a suitable matrix material or, if appropriate, in a crosslinked manner. The storage medium permits a high storage density and can be applied in a simple manner, for instance by printing onto a substrate.

摘要： A polymeric material applicable for making a data-recording layer of a multi-layer recording medium in the process using a plastic stamper is provided. In the manufacturing process of multi-layer recording media, a plastic substrate carrying data signals is used as a stamper. The stamper includes a plastic substrate formed thereon a signal-carrying layer. The polymeric material is applied on the plastic stamper to form a data-recording layer. The polymeric material has good duplicating characteristics and has different adhesion to a metallic layer and a polymeric layer so that data-recording layer made by the polymeric material is easy to be peeled off from the stamper. The stamper is also reusable for several times so as to save manufacturing cost.

The heat generation area in recording is so narrow that some drift in auto-focusing and tracking is allowable, which enables high-speed rotation leading to high-speed recording and high-density recording.
