    • The disclosed embodiments relate to a daylight harvesting system (1). The daylight harvesting system comprises a light distribution device comprising a light inlet (2) for receiving incident light (3), and a light outlet (4) for providing output light (5) received by the light inlet into an interior space. A light sensor (6) is arranged to receive and measure a light level of the incident light and to provide a measurement signal representative thereof. Control circuitry (7) is arranged to receive the measurement signal, and to provide a control signal based on the measurement signal to an artificial light source (8) placed at the light outlet. The light sensor is placed relative the light inlet such that the incident light received by the light sensor exclusively is affected by the incident light as received by the light inlet.

    • A multi-mode lighting system includes a collector unit having a base including a cavity and a transparent or translucent cover mounted on the base. The system further includes a lighting module having a base, a transparent or translucent cover and a photovoltaic element mounted therein. A plurality of fiber optic filaments extend from the collector to the lighting module to transmit radiation from first ends of the fiber optic filaments to second ends of the fiber optic elements. The first ends of the fiber optic filaments are disposed in an array in the collector unit to receive radiation and second ends are disposed in an array in the lighting module to emit radiation received by the first ends of the fiber optic filaments. Radiation transmitted by the fiber optic filaments illuminates an area external to the lighting module and impinges the photovoltaic element to generate electricity.

    • Techniques, systems, and devices are disclosed for implementing a light window having LED light sources and a transparent waveguide to produce patterned illuminations and visual effects. In one aspect, a light window uses a light panel for producing an illumination or a visual effect, wherein the light panel includes: a transparent front panel; a transparent back panel; a side frame which supports the front panel and the back panel; multiple LEDs attached to an inner surface of the side frame; and a light guide positioned between the front panel and the back panel and configured to propagate light emitted by the LEDs, and to direct a portion of the light out of the light panel in a direction toward the front panel. One surface of the light guide is configured with either a refractive structure or a reflective structure for directing the portion of the light toward the front panel.
