    • A coupling assembly for releasably interconnecting fluid passages comprises male and female coupling members, which are mated by inserting a probe and socket of the members respectively. Each coupling member has a first end arranged for connection to a fluid passage. When mated in use, the coupling assembly provides a straight fluid conduit between the fluid passages comprising through-bores in each of the coupling members coincident along a first longitudinal axis. When mated in use, the probe and socket are arranged coincident on a second longitudinal axis, which is inclined to the first axis. Sealing means comprising an annular sealing ring proximate each of the socket and probe are arranged, when mated in use, either side of an intersection between the through-bore and socket. The sealing arrangement is such that fluid within the fluid conduit exerts a net force resisting separation of said coupling members.

    • A pipe coupling for joining a pair of pipe ends has a sleeve containing a lip seal and a pair of opposing mirror image annular support bodies each with a first end engaged with the sleeve and each extending axially away from the sleeve to a second end with a radial wall having a circular opening sized for the pipe ends at the opposite end. Each supporting body containing a clamping member adjacent the radial wall and intermediate the supporting body and outer surface of the pipe end. The clamping member pivotal between an inclined position and an upright position and biased to the upright clamping position. Pipe ends are inserted with the clamping members in the inclined position. After insertion, an extraction force on the pipe ends moves the clamping members to an upright clamping position. A circumferential band secures the first ends of the supporting bodies to the sleeve.

    • A pipe coupling for connecting pipes having unprofiled end sections includes an elastomeric sealing gasket for holding the unprofiled pipe end sections in a sealed manner. A clamping clip surrounds the sealing gasket. The clamping clip includes a clip strap having a first end and a second end. A first clamping jaw is formed at the first end. A second clamping jaw is formed at the second end. The clamping jaws are drawn together by a tensioning device. The clip strap has radially inwardly directed projecting flanges on each of its axial ends. A first C-shaped clamping ring and a second C-shaped clamping ring are each disposed between the sealing gasket and one of the flanges. Each of the C-shaped clamping rings are supported on a radially inner side of the clip strap. Each of the C-shaped clamping rings have projections projecting from its radially inner face and, when said clip strap is tensioned, the projections of the C-shaped rings engage in the pipe material. The clamping rings are substantially made of plastic and approximately fill the space between the sealing gasket and one of the flanges. The clamping rings may be formed as a single part or from two ring parts. If formed of two parts, the radially inner part may be made of a brass alloy. The projections may be formed as encircling ribs.

    • A conduit coupling having a body with an axially extending bore formed therethrough from a first end to a second end. The bore is defined by an inner wall including a frusto-conical surface converging toward the body first end. A radially constrictible and generally annular retaining collet is positioned in the bore. The collet includes an outer frusto-conical surface mating with the frusto-conical surface defined by the inner wall and is axially movable relative thereto. The collet has an inner toothed surface defining a collet inner diameter and at least two radially inwardly extending bite-teeth defining therebetween a distance less than the collet inner diameter and less than an outer diameter of a conduit inserted into the bore so that the bite-teeth engage an outer surface of the conduit. In this manner, upon axial outward movement of the conduit, the frusto-conical surface of the collet bears against the frusto-conical surface of the body inner wall to radially constrict the collet. The inner-toothed surface of the radially constricted collet firmly engages the conduit outer surface to prevent the withdrawal of the conduit from the bore. The coupling, which has both single and double-ended configurations, provides unobstructed and reliable communication between conduits or between a conduit and a piece of equipment. The inwardly directed and circumferentially spaced bite-teeth prevent slippage between a conduit and the collet, but do not significantly interfere with conduit insertion into the coupling.

    • A pipe coupling for sealing a leak location in a pipe or pipeline by compressing annular gasket members against the pipe or pipeline around the leak location comprises a tubular middle ring, a pair of annular followers, and a pair of annular elastomeric gasket positioners bonded to and protruding from respective followers and positioned so that when the coupling is placed in sealing position, the gasket positioners engage the annular gasket members and force the gasket members into sealing position between the tubular middle ring and the pipe or pipeline. Suitable annular gasket members include rubber O-rings. The gasket positioners may include a retaining ring to prevent outward extrusion of the gasket positioner from between the coupling and the pipe or pipeline.
