    • A locking system is provided whereby at least two locking devices can be actuated with one and the same key. The key has at least two control tracks, via which, in at least two scanning planes lying one behind the other respectively transverse to the insertion direction, the scanning of scanning points provided on the key is possible. Via the scanning points provided in at least one scanning plane, both types of platelet tumblers can be scanned via the mating scanning points thereof and separated, so that the arrangement of one type of the two platelet tumblers in at least one scanning plane can be chosen freely in order to form a multiplicity of locking devices having cylinders cores having an associated cylinder housing and matched to the free choice of the platelet tumblers, which can be actuated with one and the same key.

    • The invention relates to a lock device comprising a key and a lock cylinder, said lock cylinder comprising a fixed cylinder housing and a cylinder core mounted to rotate therein. The key shaft (10.3) has an edge profile and may be inserted in a key way of the cylinder core in which displaceable tumblers (41, 42) are located transverse to the above. The key shaft (10.3) has profiled recesses running in the longitudinal direction, comprising a pair of follow points for each tumbler (41, 42) for coding the key, whilst the tumbler (41, 42) has a pair of counter follow points which are the basis of the corresponding counter coding. According to this invention, a space-saving design of the lock device may be achieved with a large range of variation for the coding wherein both follow points are on the key shaft (10.3) in the form of recesses, arranged on opposing lateral surfaces to an edge (57.2; 57.3) of the edge profile of the key shaft (10.3). A web (22; 23) is thus generated in the corner region of the edge profile between both recesses. Said web functions a code web (22; 23), as the opposing web edges serve for the coding. The corresponding tumblers (41, 42) have a cut-out, which in use enclose the code web (22; 23) on opposing web edges. The lateral limits of the cut-out form the counter follow points in the tumblers (41, 42).

    • Cylinder lock and key with a rotatable plug in a cylindrical housing has radial slots each with two tumblers spring biased in the same direction and provided with side extensions for engaging a supporting spring. The side extensions are oriented opposite each other, and certain slots are spring biased in one direction and in other slots the tumblers are spring biased in another direction. The tumblers have cord projections protruding into a key channel and engaging control paths. The tumblers in series in odd slots are spring biased in one direction and in even slots are spring biased in the opposite direction, whereby their cord projections protrude in a direction orthogonal to sliding motion of the tumblers so that the cord projections are in each slot, substantially against each other and their lateral control edges adjacent the side projections cooperate with the control paths formed on the adjacent side walls of the control grooves in the key.

    • A tumbler assembly for a key operable locking mechanism (hereinafter referred to as a "key mechanism"), includes support means (12) and a plurality of tumblers (14) mounted in the support means. The assembly, suitably orientated relative to a three-axis co-ordinate system for which it is appropriate to designate the axes as being vertical, lateral and horizontal, has tumblers (14) mounted in the support means (12) in a random or sequential series which extends longitudinally in the support means. The tumblers (14) are mounted for movement to and away from a respective active position by substantially linear movement. The support means has first (14a) and second (14b) laterally opposite sides, with each tumbler accessible at each of those sides. Each of the tumblers (14) is configured at the first side (14a) for effecting its movement by engagement with a configured key blade of a suitable key presented longitudinally (20) along the first side (14a). At least one of said tumblers (14) is reversibly movable in the vertical direction to and away from its active position, by at least substantially linear movement upon engagement with the key blade, and is accessible at the second side (14b) over or during the course of its movement in the vertical direction over at least a major part of its full extent at the second side.

    • A free wheel lock cylinder includes a main rotor having a plurality of slits communicating with a key hole and a recessed portion communicating with both the slits and the key hole. Tumblers, having positioning notched portions formed on upper edge portions thereof, are slidably received in the slits of the main rotor. An engagement bar, having an underside engageable with the positioning notched portions of the tumblers, is received in the recessed portion of the main rotor and is biased toward the tumblers. A rear rotor is engageable with the main rotor through an interlocking device that is movable in response to operation of the engagement bar. When a proper key is inserted in the key hole of the main rotor, the engagement bar engages aligned positioning notched portions of the tumblers. The main rotor engages the rear rotor through the interlocking device moving in response to the operation of the engagement bar so that the rear rotor turns in response to rotation of the main rotor.
