摘要： A method and apparatus for machining an internal surface of a differential case. A lathe having a turret and a pair of spindles are in electrical communication with a programmable computer. Integrally connected to the turret is a cutter gripper assembly that is selectively grippingly engageable with a cutter. A differential case is mounted horizontally within a mount assembly on a tabletop of the lathe. Once the cutter gripping assembly engages the cutter, the turret moves toward the differential case until the cutter is in a start position within the hollow portion of the case aligned with openings in a first and second tubular portion of the case and the pair of spindles. The pair of spindles then drivingly engage the cutter and the cutter machines a first and second internal machining surface as the cutter moves from a first cutting position to a second cutting position.

摘要： The present invention includes a tool and method for resurfacing a housing facing. The tool is adapted for use with a rotatable shaft extending from a housing, e.g. an impeller shaft of a pump. The tool includes a body having first and second halves that are removably secured to the rotatable shaft. A plurality of cutters are receivable within slots selectively disposed along the radii of the body halves. Advancing and locking screws for each cutter are utilized to position a cutter for engagement with the housing facing. The shaft is rotated, causing the cutters to produce a cut of desired depth in the facing. The depth of the cut is increased by turning an advancing screw.

摘要： A tool for machining or repairing a worn counterbore in the cylinder block is provided with a feed control device. The refacing tool has a base structure which is attachable to the engine block. A shaft is rotatably and slidably mounted in the base structure in alignment with the counterbore and the shaft is operable by hand or by a power mechanism. Secured to the lower end of the shaft is a cutter head carrying a cutting tool mounted in a position to engage adjoining faces of the counterbore. The feed control device has an internally threaded tubular body secured to the base structure and a feed screw is threaded into the body to extend alongside the shaft. A feed plate is secured to the shaft to engage the top of the feed screw so that downward movement of the shaft is limited by corresponding movement of the feed screw. Between the feed plate and the feed screw there is a drive mechanism which rotates the screw as the shaft is rotated. The arrangement allows both faces of the counterbore to be machined with the cutting tool being controlled as it is advanced to its work by the feed control device.
