    • The present invention relates to a knife for and a method of zero till or minimum till seeding and fertilizing. The knife is particularly adapted for dry land conditions producing minimum solid disturbance and very shallow operation. The knife has a high penetration angle preferably of 45 degrees which permits the blade to enter high trash surface cover with little tendency to plug due to trash accumulation. The blade has a forward angle of attack, the lower cutting edge advancing before the upper cutting edge, serving to make a clean cut in the soil surface without accumulating trash. Seed and/or fertilizer conduits are attached to or incorporated in the trailing face of the blade in which the outlets may be spaced for controlled placement of the materials. By the method a furrow is cut having a substantial transverse component in an operation with a substantial forward component. A preferred embodiment includes a horizontal extension blade for cutting a horizontal swath at a shallow depth through weed growth. Conduits may be secured to the extension to allow greater separation and control of material placement. The knives may be arranged in overlapping configuration on the draw bar to affect weed cutting, seeding and fertilizing of a complete with of soil in a single pass.

    • Methods and apparatus are provided for dispensing chemical material, and in particular, granular, agricultural material, from a moving device driven over terrain to be treated with the material. A metering system for dispersing the material includes on apertured metering disk positioned above a rotatable impeller. The apertured disk meters material from a product container, by gravity feed, onto the impeller below at a rate proportional to the linear speed at which the apparatus is driven to dispense material at a uniform density over the terrain. The metering disk is a component of a product container which is removably mounted to the device. The impeller rotates at a constant speed to disperse the deposited material at a uniform distance from the apparatus, and the position on which the material is deposited on the impeller is adjustable. A clutch permits the user to discontinue dispensing material from the device at the selection of the user, and automatically discontinues dispensing of material when the apparatus is driven in a reverse direction. Switches are provided for selectively adjusting the speed of rotation of the impeller, and the pattern at which material is propelled from the impeller. An override clutch permits the impeller to rotate after movement of the apparatus ceases, and a clutch housing is provided to reduce noise during operation of the apparatus.

    • The present invention is a walk behind segmented interchangeable lawn mower with spreader device having a main housing with rear wheels, a handle and a motor and having interchangeable second and third housings for attaching a spreader attachment, wherein the spreader attachment is capable of spreading material over an area, and attaching a mower cutting blade attachment. In one embodiment the present invention includes a second housing having a rotatable cutting blade for cutting grass and the like. The hopper includes an open top and an open bottom, sidewalls and, preferably, an indented area which includes a plurality of apertures for permitting the flow of material therethrough. A flow rate adjusting handle member is also included. The hopper also includes a vertically disposed rod member having a vertical rotation axis. The rod member includes a plurality of mixing members and a spreader member.

A two part plastic strip with a multiplicity of evenly spaced discharge openings is just above this seam and generally across the same. By adjusting the discharge openings in the two part strip to become partially to fully aligned a variety of different size aperture openings can be achieved in which to dispense the product in the container. If all the product is not used, then the two strips can be manipulated to fully mis-align the discharge openings, thus re-sealing the container.
