摘要： Thermoplastic blend compositions comprise polyphenylene ethers blended with modified polyesters. The modified polyesters comprise linear polyesters, such as polyalkylene terephthalate, modified with hydroxy- or carboxy-terminated polystyrene. The blends have good solvent resistance, heat distortion temperature, and gloss.Methods for preparing blends of polyester and polyphenylene ether are also described. They involve modifying the polyester with hydroxy- or carboxy-terminated polystyrene, prior to blending with the polyphenylene ether.

摘要： A polyphenylene ether resin composition containing (A) 100 parts by weight of a polyphenylene-ether-base resin composed of 100-60 wt. % of a polyphenylene ether resin and 0-40 wt. % of a polystyrene resin and (B) 1-40 parts by weight of a dicarboxylic acid ester copolymer obtained from a vinyl monomer and an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid ester as copolymerizable components. The dicarboxylic acid ester copolymer has a weight average molecular weight not greater than 60,000. The polyphenylene ether resin composition, if necessary, can further comprise (C) 1-40 parts by weight of conductive carbon or an A-B-A' type or A-B'-B" type block copolymer elastomer. Owing to its excellent mechanical properties, heat resistance and moldability, the resin composition is useful in the fields of automotive vehicles, home electronic or electric appliances and industrial parts or components.

摘要： The present invention relates to a polyphenylene ether copolymer and thermoplastic resin compositions thereof which are excellent in heat resistance, thermal stability, mechanical strength, moldability and solvent resistance.Particularly, the present invention relates to a polyphenylene ether-polyolefin copolymer formed by covalent bonding between a polyphenylene ether and a polyolefin, each of which has a specific melt viscosity. The copolymer is represented by the formula (1):P--Z.sub.1 --R.sub.1 --Z.sub.2 --Q (1)wherein P is a polyphenylene ether component, Q is a polyolefin component, and each of Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 is a connecting group such as imide group, amide group or the like and R.sub.1 is an alkylene group, an arylene group or a cycloalkylene group and a resin composition comprising said copolymer, a polyphenylene ether and a polyolefin.Said copolymer and said resin compositions have the excellent properties described above, and hence are useful for the production of outside panels and external trims of automobiles, electrical and electronic machinery and apparatus.
