    • A broadcasting system provides a telephone number as identity information during a registration process of a user equipment intended to be used as a user broadcasting equipment. The telephone number is one of many telephone numbers associated with the broadcasting system. During the registration process in which the user equipment is identified as a user broadcasting equipment, various information associated with the user equipment are obtained and stored. The identity information, i.e., the telephone number, maps to the stored information such that when the user equipment is used to dial the provided telephone number, the broadcasting system automatically recognizes the user equipment is making a dial to broadcast request. Upon checking the stored information associated with the user equipment, the broadcasting system allows the user equipment to broadcast to one or more other user equipment registered as listeners to a scheduled broadcast.

    • An SS7-based call protocol conversion gateway that translates between circuit-switched SS7 protocols and session initiation protocol (SIP) oriented protocol, allowing an E911 call initiated over a switched network to be routed by a VoIP network. The SS7-based call protocol conversion gateway provides a PSAP with MSAG quality (street address) information about a VoIP dual mode phone user without the need for a wireless carrier to invest in building out an entire VoIP core. Thus, wireless carriers may continue signaling the way they are today, i.e., using the J-STD-036 standard for CDMA and GSM in North America, yet see benefits of a VoIP network core, i.e., provision of MSAG quality location data to a PSAP.

    • The present invention comprises a system and method for providing a distributed wireless network. In a preferred embodiment, at least one information processor is coupled to and accessible over a communication network, such as the internet. Network bandwidth is provided to a first user of at least two end users for a first fee and to a second user of the at least two end users for a second fee. The bandwidth is provided by at least one network service provider. Further, at least two wireless gateway devices are each respectively operated by the end users, and the wireless gateway devices are configured to provide wireless access to the communication network within a transmission range and to communicate with the at one least information processor. Also, at least two wireless receiving devices are provided that are operable to receive the respective bandwidth from the at least two wireless gateway devices when in transmission range. Preferably, the first user is authorized to use the second bandwidth and the second user is authorized to use the first bandwidth via the wireless devices. Thus a system and method of sharing bandwidth is provided.

    • A voice gateway receives packets transmitting voice data between two voice gateways, each received packet includes header data and voice media payload, means for establishing a voice trunk between the two voice gateways based on the header data of the received packets. The voice media payloads of the received packets are extracted and combined into a single packet, the single packet including for a voice call a dedicated channel data of the established voice trunk comprising an identifier of the respective voice call and the voice media payload of the respective voice call. A single set of header data is added to the single packet, the single set of header data includes base information for synchronizing the flow of data between the two voice gateways. The single packet is transmitted to the receiving voice gateway via the voice trunk.

    • A method of accessing a dedicated phone or Internet service at a remote location includes providing a system having a terminal, a phone, and a USB stick that is adapted to be used with a data-only communication device. The terminal has a phone jack that is coupled to a dedicated phone service line for use with the phone, a data jack that is coupled to a dedicated Internet service, and a connector that is adapted to receive a cable that is connected to a satellite dish for uplink and downlink communication with an orbiting satellite. Each of the phone and the USB stick are provided with an identification footprint that is unique to the terminal. The terminal is positioned at a first location. When the phone and/or the USB stick are moved to a remote location, voice and data signals corresponding to the dedicated phone service line and the dedicated Internet service can be communicated from the terminal to the phone and/or USB stick at the remote location via an antenna and the orbiting satellite.
