    • A drawout unit that disconnects both polarities of DC current from a DC source, when all poles are used for one of the polarities leaving no pole available to disconnect the other polarity. The drawout unit includes a disconnect device having a four-pole switch, and all four poles are series-connected to the positive (ungrounded) polarity. A separate drawout module with its own housing is connected to the negative (grounded) polarity, and together, the disconnect device and the drawout module are positioned in a cradle with a racking mechanism for racking both the device and the module in and out of the cradle simultaneously, thereby obtaining total isolation of both polarities. In this configuration, the installer has the option to ground the negative polarity, while leaving the positive polarity ungrounded. The drawout module has a through bar conductor that passes the negative polarity of the DC current through the drawout unit.

    • A replaceable circuit breaker module has a housing for supporting and enclosing elements of the module, a circuit breaker mounted in the housing in a manner that an action of installing the module connects the breaker to bridge an incoming and an outgoing conductor, and monitoring circuitry for monitoring characteristics of the circuit breaker, the monitoring circuitry mounted in the housing and having a first connector element for engaging a mating connector element in the action of installing the module. The module is characterized in that action of withdrawing the circuit breaker module also withdraws the monitoring circuitry. Sensors in the monitoring circuitry may include sensors for monitoring one or more of breaker presence, on/off state of the breaker, and voltage provided to the breaker.

    • Draw-out circuit breaker apparatus is taught with an interphase barrier for metal enclosed switchgear. The interphase barrier includes a unitary member which is mounted on wheels so that it may be partially withdrawn when the circuit interrupter draw-out element is withdrawn thus allowing pivotal shutter members to be moved into position in front of the spouts or bottles of the high voltage terminals of the metal enclosed system. When the movable draw-out element is reinserted in its fully connected position the barrier moves flush with the previously described spouts as the shutters rotate upwardly and downwardly to accommodate insertion of the terminals of the movable circuit breaker into the complementary stationary high voltage terminals.
