    • Methods and systems for safely installing and removing a circuit breaker or other branch electrical equipment from a panelboard provide a resilient barrier interface for the panelboard. The barrier interface operates in conjunction with the circuit breaker to allow access to a plug-in jaw in the panelboard only when the circuit breaker is inserted in the panelboard. Specifically, the circuit breaker has one or more insertion keys on the underside of its casing that interact with the barrier interface to open and close the barrier interface. When the circuit breaker is inserted into the panelboard, the insertion keys force the barrier interface open automatically to allow the circuit breaker to access the plug-in jaw. Removing the circuit breaker from the panelboard automatically closes the barrier interface and prevents fingers or tools and the like from inadvertently accessing the plug-in jaw.

    • An electrical switching apparatus includes a circuit breaker device having a molded housing with line and load ends, plural terminals disposed from the housing, and first and second handle devices. The terminals electrically and mechanically engage a circuit breaker mounting block. The first and second handle devices engage the housing at or about the respective line and load ends. The handle devices remove the circuit breaker device from the mounting block. Each of the handle devices includes an insulative barrier having a first portion, a second portion and a third portion. The first portion at least partially covers a corresponding one of the housing ends. The second portion is coupled to the housing at or about the corresponding one of the housing ends. The third portion is structured to be manually grasped in order to pull the insulative barrier together with the circuit breaker device away from the mounting block.

    • A connector module for overcurrent protection devices uses a printed circuit board substrate as a support surface for line and load busbar members and auxiliary signal clip connectors disposed on one side of the substrate. Passageways in the substrate enable male current plugs to extend through the substrate to mate with sockets disposed in the busbars. Additional passageways enable auxiliary contact terminals to extend through the substrate. Clip connectors disposed on the substrate are used to make electrical contact to the auxiliary terminals. In a preferred embodiment, the sockets and clips are shaped and dimensioned to mate with the current and alarm contact terminals of a plug-in circuit breaker.
