摘要： Devices and techniques for a particle positioning device are generally described. In some examples, a fluid may be introduced to a channel formed on a first surface of a substrate. In various examples, the channel may comprise a periodic dielectric structure etched in a first surface of the substrate and a channel wall material. In some examples, a laser beam may be directed through the channel wall material to the periodic dielectric structure. In various further examples, the laser beam may be reflected from the periodic dielectric structure into an interior region of the channel to form a focal enhancement region of the laser beam in the interior region of the channel adjacent to the periodic dielectric structure. In various examples, a force may be exerted on a particle suspended in the fluid with an electric field gradient generated by the focal enhancement region of the laser beam.

摘要： A stage assembly for supporting articles, the stage assembly uses one or more intermediate stage modules. Each module has a plurality of compound radial flexures (CRFs), extending radially from a base or an intermediate stage module, and allowing rotational movement about a center axis. The CRFs each have a flat profile, with a long side of the profile aligned perpendicularly to the direction of rotation of the stage modules so that the CRFs have more flexibility in the direction of rotation than obliquely to the direction of rotation. Movement of a last of the stage modules results in deflection of the CRFs between each successive stage module, with partial movement of each stage module between the base and the last of the stage modules, the last of the stage modules provided as a primary stage module.

摘要： An electrowetting system and method for the movement of a droplet across the surface of a substrate, utilizing an applied voltage. The actuation of the droplet is achieved by introducing a diode into the idealized electrical circuit of the electrowetting system. The diode is in parallel with a capacitor (dielectric) and effectively shorts the droplet on the side of a lower potential electrode so that the entire voltage drop is across the dielectric over the higher potential electrode. This difference in potential creates an energy imbalance that is effective in moving the droplet towards the higher potential electrode. If the voltage polarity is reversed, the direction of actuation will also be reversed.
