Each shock absorber element includes a housing portion defining a bore, and a rod slidably coupled within the bore such that the shock absorber element has a variable length. Each rod is coupled to a respective coupling point of the wheel assembly. The shock absorber assembly is arranged to maintain the relative positions of the first and second housing portions such that the longitudinal axis of the first bore has a generally fixed relationship with respect to the longitudinal axis of the second bore.

摘要： A hydraulic counterweight and shock-absorbing system for unbalanced loads comprises a hydraulic cylinder having a reciprocable piston attached to a rod which controls the position of the load. The hydraulic cylinder is filled with a hydraulic liquid and is provided with a valved by-pass conduit which is selectively operable to permit free movement of the piston in a "free-wheeling" mode. An accumulator partially filled with hydraulic liquid under a high-pressure gas phase is operatively connected to the rod end of the cylinder to provide a shock-absorbing function during a "hook-up" mode. In a "disconnect" mode, by-pass conduits provided with a check-valve and with a relief or pressure-controlled valve permit unimpeded upward movement of the load in response to an external applied force, but prevent downward movement of the load except on application of a force exceeding the weight of the load.

摘要： This device for absorbing the energy produced by a shock against a bumper of motor vehicle comprises a pair of parallel spaced single-acting hydraulic shock-absorbers having one member (e.g., a piston) connected to the bumper bar and the other member (e.g., the cylinder) attached to the chassis of the vehicle, said shockabsorbers being disposed symmetrically, and conduit means connecting the pressure side of each shock-absorber to a substantially tapered chamber and filled with fluid; these conduits open in mutual opposition and tangentially into said chamber to create a whirling motion in the fluid therein, said chamber having an outlet orifice near its top which communicates with a reservoir; valve means may be associated with each shockabsorber for memorizing the maximum fluid pressure attained in said shock-absorber cylinders, whereby the shock-absorbing capacity of the assembly be substantially independent of the point of impact of the shock along the bumper.
