    • The double action piston assembly is for an internal combustion engine and has a combustion chamber that has a double action piston connected to one end of a central power rod disposed within the combustion chamber. A first intake air port and a first exhaust port are located in the up side of the combustion chamber. A compression chamber is connected to the combustion chamber. A central power rod passes through the combustion chamber into the compression chamber and out the compression chamber. A fuel mixture is fed into the combustion chamber and ignition means adjacent to combustion chamber to ignite the fuel mixture. At the end of each stroke, the compression exhaust valves are opened and the intake ports and the exhaust ports are open to permit air from the compression chamber to pass through the conduits into the combustion chamber for full scavenging of the combustion chamber.

    • An engine is disclosed having cylinders slidably disposed in an engine block. The cylinders reciprocate, engaging movable pistons at each end. A piston and cylinder end define a combustion chamber. A centrally located crankshaft extracts work, and converts the reciprocating motion into rotary motion. Precompression plates fixed to the cylinder reciprocate in precompression chambers to pre-compress and inject an air/fuel mixture. An exhaust gas recovery system, including a catalytic converter in the precompression chamber, extracts work from energy in the exhaust gas stream to improve the engine efficiency. In one embodiment, a central piston assembly is slidable within the cylinder, and reciprocates relative to the cylinder, substantially in synchrony with the motion of the cylinder, thereby producing an effective stroke length that is greater than the stroke length of the cylinder alone. Offset piston journals engage a gliding block to couple the central piston assembly to the crankshaft.

    • A two-cycle internal combustion engine comprises a cylinder with a piston, the cylinder having a port in which an intake valve is placed for feeding a fuel-air mixture from an intake manifold into an intake chamber. The intake chamber is positioned under the position, is isolated from a crank chamber and communicates with a combustion chamber. The combustion chamber is positioned above the piston and communicates with the intake chamber by means of a by-pass manifold, at the inlet of which an intake valve is placed for feeding a fuel-air mixture. An additional piston is provided which is positioned in the cylinder between the crank chamber and the main piston and is rigidly connected to the main piston. A second intake chamber is positioned between the first intake chamber and the additional piston. The second intake chamber isolated from the first intake chamber by means of a partition and communicates with the intake manifold and with the by-pass manifold.
