    • A shuttleless weaving machine employs filling-yarn transfer at the center of a shed from a first gripper system advanced from one side to a second gripper system approaching from the other side. The yarn transfer is implemented by opening and subsequently closing the clamping means of the gripper systems by means of control levers which are made to enter from the outside through the warp threads into the shed. The control levers are mounted at fixed locations and are so shaped and can be so pivoted from an operational position within the shed into a rest position below the shed that, when the reed beats up, the reed stay can pass unhindered over the control lever. A common shaft carries both the control levers and cam means for actuating the control levers. Actuating means transmitting actuating motion from the cam means to the control levers are mounted on pivot means arranged in spaced parallel relationship to the common shaft.

    • A mechanism on shuttleless looms for the transfer of the end 17' of the weft yarn from a yarn holder 26, 27 on a nosegripper 6 of a yarn insertion needle to a yarn clamp 13, 14 arranged on the machine frame and immovable in the weft direction. The yarn clamp 13, 14 includes a carrier which can move to swing in time with the reed 2 and has two oscillating levers 7, 10 which carry at their ends the jaws 13, 14 which grip the weft yarn. The one oscillating lever 7 is connected rigidly to the carrier, while the other lever 10 is stressed elastically via a rubber sleeve 12 into the gripping position with the one oscillating lever 7. The jaw 14 is held back by cooperation with a stop 15, while the jaw 13 moves on. The yarn clamp 13, 14 hereby automatically gets spread for the release of the end of the weft yarn or respectively for accepting the next weft yarn end.

A weft thread reserve is formed between a selvedge of the fabric and the path of an inserting carrier, the weft thread is cut near the selvedge and pulled by the inserting carrier to the middle of the shed in the form of a loop having one arm constituted by the free end portion of the weft thread reserve and the other arm by the portion of weft thread connected to an outside weft, supply package, the apex of the thread loop in the inserting carrier is clamped by the nipper of a withdrawing carrier and pulled towards the other selvedge, the nipper of the withdrawing carrier opens when the same reaches a position distant from the other selvedge by an amount substantially equal to the length of the weft thread reserve, and the thread reserve is allowed to slide in the then open nipper of the withdrawing carrier so as to completely straighten as far as the other selvedge during the completion of the travel of the withdrawing carrier.
