摘要： A method is provided for detecting broken rail, unintentionally misaligned turnouts, and track occupancy ahead of or behind a railway vehicle traveling on a railroad track. Shunts extend between the rails at intervals along the railroad track. Each shunt has electrical signal transmission characteristics differing from those of adjacent shunts. A test unit on the railway vehicle induces a test signal in a first rail to create a track circuit in which the test signal propagates along the first rail, through at least one of the shunts, returns to the railway vehicle along the second rail, and through the wheels and axle of the railway vehicle. The test signal has electrical properties selected to interact with at least one of the shunts. The received test signal on the second rail is analyzed to identify predetermined conditions concerning the status of the railroad track.

In some embodiments, particularly those in which the bit period is about one-half of the carrier signal frequency, both the real and imaginary waveforms are monitored to detect the zero crossing in order to account for the situation in which data transitions prevent zero-crossings on one of the waveforms.

It also facilitates true moving-block or virtual block CBTC or PTC, thereby enabling higher efficiency and track utilization.

摘要： A track circuit for railway systems or the like includes a track segment of predetermined length electrically insulated from an adjacent track segment by an electric joint, which includes a conductor and forms two loops arranged in a longitudinal S-shape within the space between the rails. The transmitting/receiving units include a unit transmitting and receiving a high-frequency signal to detect a train on the a track segment, and a unit transmitting and receiving a low-frequency signal which provides the carrier encoded with information to be transmitted to a train-based receiving unit. Units are further provided that enable/disable the high-frequency signal transmitting/receiving units, and units that enable/disable the low-frequency signal transmitting/receiving units, which are alternately actuated. The electric joint includes an internal impedance disposed between the two loops.

摘要： This disclosure is concerned with an alternating signal amplitude selection stage of particular application in devices for information transmission, as in track systems along which there are in succession a number of transmission zones each employing oscillating carrier frequencies, and with a view to avoiding crosstalk problems between signals in adjacent zones. According to the invention, the selection stage comprises an operational amplifier placed in an open loop, a counter of the number of impulse peaks included in the output signal of the differential amplifier, and a circuit for controlling the switching of an inverter to connect the appropriate filter to the input of a processing device for the signal of greater amplitude to eliminate the signal of lesser amplitude.
