    • An apparatus (10) determines a tire condition and location on a vehicle (12) including a tire-based sensing unit (14) including, a first tire rotation sensor (66) for providing a first tire rotation signal (80) each time the tire passes one of at least two predetermined rotational positions and an unique tire identification indicator, a transmitter (86) and a controller for controlling the transmitter so that the transmission occurs when the first tire rotation signal indicates the tire has reached one of the at least two predetermined rotational positions. The apparatus further includes a second tire rotation sensor (22) mounted external of the tire for sensing tire rotation and for providing a second tire rotation signal indicative of incremental angular position of the tire relative to a reference. A vehicle-based receiver (44) correlates reception with a particular tire location on the vehicle.

    • A pneumatic tyre includes a sensor device for monitoring one or more dynamic parameters of the tyre and a detecting device. The sensor device is disposed in a crown portion of the tyre and includes an inertial switch. The inertial switch changes from a first state to a second state when the crown portion begins contacting a ground surface and changes from the second state to the first state when the crown portion loses contact with the ground surface. The detecting device is operatively connected to the inertial switch and determines the one or more dynamic parameters of the tyre from a signal obtained from the changes of the inertial switch. A method for monitoring the one or more dynamic parameters includes providing the tyre with the sensor device disposed in the crown portion, rotating the tyre on the ground surface, and determining the one or more dynamic parameters.

The pressure module is configured to provide information related to a pressure of a tire in a vehicle and comprises a pressure determiner configured to determine the information related to the pressure of the tire. The pressure module further comprises a transceiver configured to wirelessly receive information related to an instruction to provide the information related to the pressure of the tire and to wirelessly transmit the information related to the tire pressure. The transceiver is configured to wirelessly transmit and receive in the same frequency band. The transceiver module is configured to communicate with a tire pressure module and comprises a transceiver configured to wirelessly transmit information related to an instruction to provide information related to a pressure of a tire to the tire pressure module. The transceiver is further configured to wirelessly receive the information related to the tire pressure from the tire pressure module and to wirelessly transmit and receive in the same frequency band. The control module is configured to determine information related to a pressure of a tire of a vehicle and comprises an interface configured to communicate with a transceiver module and a controller configured to determine information related to a state of movement of the vehicle and to communicate information related to an instruction to determine the information related to the pressure of the tire based on the information related to the state of movement of the vehicle.
