The compositions include at least one boron-containing material, such as but not limited to boric anhydride, and at least one silane-containing material, such as but not limited to methyltrichlorosilane. Optionally, at least one solvent, such as tetrahydrofuran, pentane, or water, may also be employed in the compositions. The compositions impart protection to the treated wood products, especially damage caused by exposure to water and insects.

摘要： The present invention relates to a process for treating wood and other cellulosic materials to render the resistance to wood attacking organisms, such as termite, fungi and insects. More particularly, the present invention relates to a process for treating wood with borate preservative formulation which contains at least one boron-containing component and at least one resinous component capable of retaining impregnated borate inside the treated wood even upon contact with water. The resinous component may be rosin, rosin derivative, tall oil-based compound, or mixtures thereof.

摘要： Applicants have discovered that amine oxides enhance the performance of azoles as fungicides and wood preservatives. Also, amine oxides have been found to provide waterproofing properties and enhance the uniform distribution and penetration of azoles into wood substrates. The present invention provides a composition comprising an amine oxide and an azole, such as a 1,2,4-triazole. The composition of the present invention may be incorporated into or be a wood preservative and waterproofing system, or agricultural product. Another embodiment of the present invention is a method for preserving and/or waterproofing a wood substrate by applying the composition to the wood substrate. Yet another embodiment is an article comprising a wood substrate and the composition of the present invention. The invention also provides a method of controlling fungi comprising applying an effective amount of the composition of the present invention to the fungi or the area on which the fungi grow.

摘要： Methods and compositions useful for increasing water resistance of a surface associated with a concrete, masonry or wood building material as disclosed herein. The method comprises the steps of applying a selected amount of an aqueous treating solution to the surface, wherein the aqueous treating solution includes a hydrophobic anion salt dissolved in water; allowing a portion of the aqueous treating solution to absorb into the surface; and evaporating the water to yield a treated surface having increased water resistance. The composition comprises a major amount of cement and a minor amount of a hydrophobic anion salt. The major amount of cement may be Portland cement, and the minor amount of hydrophobic anion salt may be potassium stearate, sodium stearate, as well as combinations thereof.
