摘要： A cast formed filter and a method for making the filter are provided. The cast formed filter includes a cast formed filter media having an inlet end, an outlet end, a plurality of inlet openings, a plurality of outlet openings, and a fluid path. The plurality of inlet openings extend from the inlet end into the cast formed filter media, wherein a first portion of the cast formed filter media is disposed between each of the plurality of inlet openings and the outlet end. The plurality of outlet openings extend from the outlet end into the cast formed filter media, wherein a second portion of the cast formed filter media is disposed between each of the plurality of outlet openings and the inlet end, the second portion comprising at least a portion of the first portion of cast formed filter media. The fluid path extends through at least one of the plurality of inlet openings and through at least one of the plurality of outlet openings, wherein fluid flowing through the fluid path is filtered by the cast formed filter media.

摘要： A honeycomb structure useful as exhaust gas trapping filter, particularly, as a diesel particulate filter (DPF) for trapping particulate matter, etc. in diesel engine exhaust gas and capable of effectively inhibiting defects such as cracks due to thermal stress, by reducing influence of thermal stress generated upon use or regeneration. The honeycomb structure includes: an integrally joined body constituted of plural honeycomb segments at joint faces with a bonding material layer, and an outer peripheral coat layer. Thickness of the bonding material layer satisfies the relation: (T2)=(1.2 to 10.0)×(T1) between an average thickness (T1) at positions (X1) and (X2) located at the both ends in the central axis direction of segments and a maximum thickness (T2) between positions (Y1) and (Y2) apart from respective ends in 3 to 40% of the whole length of the honeycomb segment.

Each pleated filtering medium has an end constituted by edges of triangular bottom sections and the other end constituted by edges of triangular top sections. The triangular bottom sections of one pleated filtering medium is bonded to the flat filtering medium only at and near the edges of the bottom sections. The triangular top sections of the other pleated filtering medium is bonded to the roughly flat filtering medium only at and near the edges of the top sections. Spacers are provided between the top sections and the flat filtering medium and between the bottom sections and the roughly flat filtering medium. Such spacers may be constituted by alternate small ridges and grooves formed in the roughly flat filtering medium.

摘要： An object of the present invention is to provide a honeycomb structural body which is low in pressure loss and can prolong a period up to a regenerating process. The present invention is directed to a columnar honeycomb structural body comprising a large number of through holes placed in parallel with one another in a length direction with wall portion interposed therebetween, wherein: each of the through holes has one of ends sealed; one end face of the through hole differs in opening area from the other end face thereof; a ceramic material which constitutes the wall portion has an average pore diameter in a range from 5 to 30 μm; and the rate of capacity of micro pores each having a pore diameter two or more times larger than the average pore diameter is set to 30% or less of the capacity of the entire micro pores.
