    • An image forming apparatus including a plural number of paper transporting units including at least first and second paper transporting units, in-unit paper sensing mechanism located in the first paper transporting unit, unit-to-unit paper sensing mechanism located between the first and second paper transporting units, and drive control mechanism for controlling the operations of the plural number of the paper transporting units, wherein the drive control mechanism includes first mechanism operating such that when any of the in-unit paper sensing mechanism located in the first paper transporting unit detects a paper transport trouble, the first mechanism stops the paper transporting operation of the second paper transporting unit in response to a sensing signal indicative of the presence of a paper from the unit-to-unit paper sensing mechanism, and second mechanism stops the paper transporting operation of the first paper transporting unit upon the stop of the paper transporting operation of the second paper transporting unit, and drives the first paper transporting unit to move the paper a predetermined distance in the direction that is reverse to the normal direction.

    • An image forming device includes a transfer material carrier unit which absorbs a transfer material onto a transfer material carrier by use of an electrostatic force and carries the transfer material. The image forming device further includes a unit for connecting the transfer material carrier unit with an image forming device main body, a unit for drawing out the transfer material carrier unit from the image forming device main body by releasing the connection to the connecting unit, and a conductive grounding member disposed in the image forming device main body such that it is opposed to the transfer material and there is provided space between the conductive grounding member and the transfer material when the transfer material carrier unit is drawn out. Further, the image forming device is characterized in that when the image forming device main body is grounded, and in the connected condition, there is formed a path for discharging electric charges from the transfer material carrier unit drawing-out unit through the transfer material carrier unit and connecting unit, and, in the connection removed condition, electricity is removed by the conductive grounding member.

    • A transfer drum includes a pair of annular frames, a coupling member for coupling the annular frames, and a transfer material holding member being wrapped around the annular frames. In the transfer drum, the coupling member is attached so that a top face of a main body, other than attachment ends of the coupling member, is positioned relative to the annular frames to be lower than outer peripheral surfaces of the annular frames. The transfer material holding member has ends in a circumferential direction overlapped on and bonded to each other and ends in an axial direction stuck to the outer peripheral surfaces of the annular frames. The transfer material holding member is attached so that it is placed out of contact with the top face of the main body of the coupling member.
