    • An image pick-up device shoots a scene by exposing a film by way of an optical system and recording an image of the scene on the film. A shake quantity detecting unit detects a shake quantity of the image pick-up device during the exposure of the film to the scene by the device and a shake data recording unit records data representing the shake quantity on a recording medium on the film. A shake data reproducing unit reproduces the data representing the shake quantity recorded on the recording medium. A shake trace data transformation unit outputs shake transmitting functions generated on the basis of the data representing the shake quantity. A first Fourier transformation unit carries out a Fourier transformation on the shake transmitting functions. Image transformation unit transforms the image of the scene recorded on the film into digital signals. A second Fourier transformation unit carries out a Fourier transformation on the digital signal. A dividing unit carries out divisions on outputs from the first and second Fourier transformation units. An inverse Fourier transformation unit carries out an inverse Fourier transformation on an output from the dividing unit, an output from the inverse Fourier transformation unit being an image of the scene free from any trace of the shake.

    • An auto-focus camera detects a focal offset, which is converted into a lens drive value utilizing data stored in lens ROM or the like which is specific to a particular taking lens. When the specific data represents a lens drive value which is stored in a table form in a manner corresponding to the focal offset, a lens drive value corresponding to the detected focal offset is selected, and is used to drive the focus lens. When the specific data is not dependent on the focal offset, a lens drive value is calculated utilizing the focal offset and the specific data, and is used to drive the focus lens.

    • To enable the user of the camera to select, using a simple mechanism, one of a function for simultaneously performing photographing and electronic image pickup, and a function for performing only one of the photographing and the electronic image pickup, the camera incorporates a release button at a position which, for example, the index finger of the right hand can reach, and another button, i.e. a digital button, at a location which the thumb of the right hand can reach. The camera is operated in accordance with a predetermined control program so that the above-described operations can be selectively executed by appropriately operating the release button and the digital button. In other words, the invention provides a camera that permits the user to easily select, using only one hand, only electronic image pickup, only film exposure, or simultaneous execution of both the operations.

    • An acceleration of a vibration generated in an optical system of, e.g., a camera is detected by a subtracter from output signals of acceleration sensors. An absolute value circuit calculates an absolute value of an acceleration signal from the subtracter. A voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) generates clocks having a frequency corresponding to a magnitude of the absolute value from the absolute value circuit. The clocks from the VCO are input to a clock terminal of an up/down counter. An ultrasonic motor (USM) drives the optical system in a direction to cancel the vibration. The USM is driven and controlled by a USM control circuit so as to be rotated at a speed corresponding to a count value of the counter. A motor speed detector detects a USM motor speed from output signals of a rotary encoder. An integrator integrates the acceleration signal from the subtracter to obtain a vibration speed. A comparator compares the USM motor speed with the vibration speed and outputs a comparison result to an up/down terminal of the counter, thereby switching between count-up and count-down operations of the counter.
