    • Flicker which occurs when a television camera images an object under illumination of a flickering light source such as fluorescent lamp is minimized without causing sensitivity of a photoelectric conversion element and hence the camera to be degraded under a non-flickering light source. The television camera includes an automatic iris control device, an automatic gain control circuit, a microcomputer, a photoelectric conversion element and an integration circuit for integrating output signal of the photoelectric conversion element for each field period. The microcomputer sets a signal storage time of the photoelectric conversion element to a value by which flicker noise can be restricted when flicker is detected on the basis of a change of an output signal of the integration circuit and sets it to another value when a change of light source is detected on the basis of a change of iris value and gain.

    • A color video camera uses an infrared cut-off filter, a complementary filter and a solid state image pick-up device. The infrared cut-off filter cuts off near infrared light of image above a wavelength .lambda.c, which is set in the range of 670 nm.ltoreq..lambda.c.ltoreq.780 nm. A color sampling/generating circuit has a matrix circuit connected to the solid state image pick-up device for providing a first luminance signal, a second luminance signal, a red channel signal and a blue channel signal. The second luminance signal is used for producing a red color difference signal and a blue color difference signal by using the red channel signal and the blue channel signal in a processing circuit. In the matrix circuit, matrix coefficients for producing the second luminance signal are set to reduce the red component of the second luminance signal. Further, the red color difference signal below a predetermined value is extracted and added to the first luminance signal to reduce the red component of the first luminance signal.

    • The present invention is a decoding apparatus for decoding an encoded video signal capable of displaying a secondary video synchronously with a primary video. The decoding apparatus includes: an auxiliary information analyzing part that analyzes auxiliary information including display auxiliary information about a display position and/or a display size of the secondary video, and applied time information by which the display auxiliary information is applied; a reference time counter that indicates a reference time at which a video is decoded and displayed; a comparing part that compares the applied time information with the reference time counter; a display screen forming part that uses a primary video and a secondary video to form a display screen; and a control part that controls the display screen forming part, wherein the control part controls the display position and/or the display size of the secondary video by affording a command to the display screen forming part using the display auxiliary information, based on an output result of the comparing part.

    • Heretofore, there have been problems in which data prerecorded on a recording medium cannot readily be played back in synchronism with data downloaded via a network because the simultaneous use of a plurality of download data has not been taken into consideration. To solve such problems, data is played back by using a first buffer memory for temporarily storing a stream that is received at one input terminal, a demultiplexer for demultiplexing packets output from the first buffer memory in accordance with packet ID numbers, second buffer memories for temporarily storing a stream that is input from another input terminal, and a packet switcher for operating selector switches to select and output either packets output from the demultiplexer or packets output from the second buffer memories.

    • The invention relates to an image pickup apparatus for outputting a video signal encoded in order to compress information amount of a photographed image.
