    • A front end of a ball screw shaft driven by a motor is connected with a binding line clamp apparatus (513) including three clamp plates (514, 515, 516). The left and right clamp plates (515, 516) are constituted to be brought into elastic contact with the center clamp plate (515) and close the left and right clamp plates by operation of cams (527, 528) when a sleeve is moved rearward. In a state of opening the clamp plates, a binding line is fed out to an upper side by passing through an interval between the right clamp plate (515) and the center clamp plate (514), formed in a loop shape and moved into an interval between the left clamp plate (516) and the center clamp plate (517). When the sleeve is moved rearward by driving to rotate a ball screw shaft, the left and right clamp plates are closed to grasp a front end and a rear end of the binding line loop and thereafter, the binding line clamp apparatus is rotated to twist the binding line to bind a reinforcing bar.

    • A wire reel containing portion 3 of a reinforcing bar binding machine 1 is provided with a rotation detecting lever 8 and a photosensor 7. When a wire reel is rotated in starting to bind a wire, rotation thereof is detected by the rotation detecting lever switched ON/OFF by a projected portion formed at a side face of the wire reel, the photosensor detects a reflection mark of the wire reel to determine a kind of the wire from a number of the marks, and a twist torque or the like is controlled. Wire information is detected not in an initializing operation (in setting wire) of rotating the wire reel at low speed but in a binding operation of rotating at high speed and therefore, an amount of swinging the rotation detecting lever is large and wire information can firmly be detected.

    • A reinforcing bar binding machine is provided with a control unit operated in such a manner that at the time of turning on an electric power source switch, a setting position of a motor drive adjustment dial and a state of a trigger lever are read, and when the motor drive adjustment dial is at a specific setting position and when the trigger lever is turned on, a binding wire cutting mechanism is driven by a predetermined number of times for warming up the binding wire cutting mechanism. When the warming-up operation is carried out in a cold environment, it is possible to reduce the viscosity of grease coated on a mechanism portion. Therefore, it is possible to lower a viscosity of grease applied on a mechanical portion and conduct a reinforcing bar binding work without wasting a binding wire in the same manner as that in a warm environment.
