    • The present invention provides greater capacity in a dynamic allocation of power. First, the invention requires the reduction, not the increase, of signal power in low traffic areas. Because this signal power reduction reduces interference in surrounding high traffic cell site areas, those high traffic cell site areas can re-direct some of this surplus power to support a greater voice and data traffic load. Accordingly, the invention increases capacity of voice and data communications in high traffic areas, where it is needed most, by lowering (and dynamically regulating) the signal power in low traffic cell site areas.

    • A container for molten metal includes an outlet for outflow of the molten metal from the container and a temperature measuring device fixed in a wall of the container. The temperature measuring device includes a plug, an outer protective sheath having a closed end, and an inner protective tube having a closed end. The inner protective tube is arranged within the outer protective sheath. A thermocouple is arranged within the inner protective tube. The plug includes a substantially refractory material and the outer protective sheath consists essentially of substantially refractory metal oxide and graphite. The outer protective sheath extends away from the first end of the plug and projects into a recessed portion of the wall of the container. The closed end of the outer protective sheath is arranged in the recessed portion. A junction of the thermocouple is proximate to the closed end of the inner protective tube.

    • A cellular wireless communication system and method of operation manages Walsh codes in order to ensure that sufficient Walsh codes are available to prevent call blocking and to support additional hand-off operations. In an initial operating condition, the cellular wireless communication system services normal hand-off operations in which a maximum number of cells and sectors may participate in hand-off. With hand-off operations according to the present invention, each cell or sector participating in hand-off for a mobile terminal uses a unique Walsh code for covering its forward link signals. When the number of Walsh codes available for servicing new calls is reduced so that it meets or exceeds a Walsh code availability threshold, the number of cells and sectors that may participate in hand-off is reduced from the maximum number. In the number of participating cells/sectors results in release or non-use of some Walsh codes. In subsequent operations when sufficient Walsh codes are available for servicing hand-off operations, a greater number, up to the maximum number of cells and sectors may again participate in hand-off of the mobile terminal.

    • Regulation of the throughflow of metal melt is provided through a bottom nozzle of a metallurgical vessel having an upper nozzle arranged in the floor of the metallurgical vessel and a lower nozzle arranged below the upper nozzle. At least one inert gas inlet aperture is provided to the melt throughflow aperture, and a sensor is arranged on or in the lower nozzle for determining the layer thickness of metal clogging in the nozzle. The inert gas supply into the bottom nozzle is regulated using measurement signals of the sensor. A bottom nozzle for the metallurgical vessel is provided with a wall of the melt throughflow aperture through the nozzles being formed at least sealed against metal melt and the nozzles being at least partially surrounded by a gas-tight housing. The housing at its lower end encloses the lower nozzle at its periphery in a gas-tight manner and is arranged with a portion of its inner side abutting on the outer side of the nozzle. A thermally insulating solid is arranged between the wall of the melt throughflow aperture and the housing.
