摘要： An optical tracking system comprises an array of point source emitters that output respective optical emissions, and a plurality of angle of arrival sensors. Each sensor comprises one or more optical elements and a focal plane array (FPA), with the optical elements arranged to resolve the optical emissions into one or more linear patterns on the FPA. A processing system in communication with the sensors establishes the orientation and position of each of the optical emitters using the linear patterns. A headgear tracking system employs point source emitters on a piece of headgear, with front and rear arrays of angle of arrival sensors located in an aircraft cockpit; a processing system in communication with the sensor arrays establishes an orientation and position for each of the optical emitters on the headgear.

摘要： An anisotropic cross-linked PVA alignment layer for aligning nematic polymeric liquid crystal compensator films, which also provides an out-of-plane retardation. The cross-linked PVA alignment layer, when applied in sufficient thickness functions as both a negative uniaxial C-plate and causes alignment of the nematic liquid crystal molecules. The combination of the retardation provided by the alignment layer and the compensator film deposited on it provides a significant improvement in the contrast and color stability of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) at large viewing angles in which they are used.

摘要： A segmented, rigid-rod aromatic polyimide mixed with a UV curable acrylate photopolymer material comprises an alignment layer for aligning nematic polymeric liquid crystal compensator films. The material may also provide an out-of-plane retardation. The segmented, rigid-rod aromatic polyimide-based UV curable acrylate alignment layer, when applied in appropriate thickness, functions as a negative uniaxial C-plate compensator and causes alignment of the nematic liquid crystal molecules. 摘要： A rugate type thin film optical interference filter is disclosed. Rugate filters are gradient-index optical filters in which the index of refraction of the film varies sinusoidally with thickness. Gradient-index filters vary the index of refraction continuously with thickness, instead of discontinuously as in, for example, quarter-wave stacks of alternating discrete layers of high and low refractive index. Rugate filters are generally used as narrow bandwidth blocking, or rejection, filters in which the specific wavelength of light reflected, or blocked, is directly proportional to the period of a simple sine wave that describes the refractive index profile of the film. Multiple-line rejection filters, in which more than one wavelength, or line, is reflected, are made by superimposing individual sine waves in parallel. The present invention provides a more easily made rugate filter by reducing the maximum required peak-to-peak refractive index modulation within the film. This is accomplished by having the sine wave for rejecting the longest wavelength line extend through the refractive index profile for the entire film thickness and connecting the sine waves for rejecting shorter wavelength lines in series and superimposing them with the sine wave for rejecting the longest wavelength line. It also enables the fabrication of rugate filters having more individual reflectance bands of similar bandwidth than would otherwise be possible with a given pair of materials.
