    • An apparatus includes an emergency services location module, operatively coupled to location hardware. The emergency services location module is operative to receive a session certificate from an emergency services network entity in response to the apparatus placing an emergency services call or sending an emergency services message. The emergency services location module validates the session certificate to validate that the emergency services network entity is authorized to receive location information, and sends location information obtained from the location hardware to the emergency services network entity, in response to validating the session certificate. The emergency services location module may also be operative to override a user privacy setting that prevents location information from being sent from the apparatus, in response to determining that the session certificate is valid. The emergency services location module may also encrypt the location information prior to sending the location information to the emergency services network entity.

    • A method for facilitating a mobile station to perform a fast handoff in a wireless communication system allows a handoff procedure to be anticipated (by the mobile station, its serving base station, or both) based on historical information regarding prior successful handoff procedures. In operation, the serving base station monitors (510) current mobile station parameters and compares them with historical data. If the parameters indicate a high probability target base station (515), the serving base station requests allocation (525) of air interface resources at the high probability target base station prior to the mobile station reporting reception of signal from the high probability target base station. This facilitates fast handoff from the serving base station to the high probability target base station.

The electronic device includes the touch panel system, an analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) unit, and a processing unit. The processing unit is operable to: receive digital signal values from the ADC unit representing capacitances detected by sensing points of the touch panel system; adjust at least one of the digital signal values based at least on a time-varying noise to produce at least one noise-adjusted value; and determine the touch input based on the at least one noise-adjusted value. In one embodiment, the electronic device determines the time-varying noise prior to adjusting the digital signal values. In another embodiment, the time-varying noise is produced by a display panel of a touchscreen display that also includes the touch panel system.

    • A method and system provides an automatic frequency correction (AFC) within a wireless communication device. A synchronization controller estimates first and second frequency errors respectively associated with a first received signal corresponding to a first receiver path and a second received signal corresponding to a second receiver path. The synchronization controller determines a value and a type of target clock of a first AFC associated with the first frequency error. If the first AFC is not generated to target a shared clock such as a reference clock, the synchronization controller generates a second AFC to compensate for the second frequency error. However, if it is determined that the first AFC targets a shared clock, the synchronization controller generates the second AFC to compensate for the first AFC and the second frequency error. The synchronization controller synchronously applies the first and second AFCs to the relevant clocks.

    • A method and system performs antenna tuning to minimize interference affecting signal reception within a wireless communication device. An antenna tuner controller determines whether the wireless communication device concurrently provides (a) simultaneous signal transmission and reception and (b) dual signal propagation. In response to determining that the wireless communication device concurrently provides the simultaneous signal transmission and reception and the dual signal propagation, the antenna tuner controller determines a current mode of operation corresponding to simultaneous signal transmission and reception and the dual signal propagation. Based on the mode of operation determined, the antenna tuner controller identifies a priority for performing antenna isolation to minimize interference affecting signal reception when the wireless communication device actively communicates within the specific mode of operation. In response to the identifying the priority for performing antenna isolation, the antenna tuner controller performs antenna impedance tuning that provides antenna isolation corresponding to the priority.
