    • A method to serve web pages from a server linked to a network of a plurality of clients, the server coupled to a plurality of data pages and to an access log. The method begins with reading an access log to collect data identifying pages that are most frequently accessed by a plurality of clients. The pages are retrieved, at least in part, from a database server coupled to a database storage. The one or more pages are stored in a cache as identified by the access log, where each of the pages are identified in the access log with at least one category of a search criteria received from the clients. An access request is received from one or more clients for a page based upon the search criteria received from the clients. The page from cache is retrieved if the page which has been requested was previously stored in cache. On the other hand, if the page, which has been requested, was not previously stored in cache then the page is retrieved from database storage. The page, which has been retrieved either locally from cache or from the database storage, is transmitted to the one or more clients requesting the page. A list is presented to the clients which includes the at least one category of a search criteria representing the pages that are most frequently accessed from the clients.

    • A method for mapping a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) interface to a Directory Assistance (DA) system can comprise the following steps. First, LDAP compatible search arguments for searching an LDAP database can be extracted from an LDAP request. Second, the LDAP compatible search arguments can be converted to search arguments compatible with a DA system database. Third, the DA system database can be queried using the converted search arguments. Fourth, a result set of listings from the DA system database can be received in response to the query. Finally, the result set can be converted to a result set compatible with LDAP. Preferably, each of the five steps can be performed in a plug-in to the LDAP server. Additionally, the method can include the step of receiving the LDAP request from an LDAP client. Moreover, the method can include the step of receiving the LDAP request in an LDAP server.

    • Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and computer program product for the proactive completion of input fields for automated voice enablement of a Web page. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for proactively completing empty input fields for voice enabling a Web page can be provided. The method can include receiving speech input for an input field in a Web page and inserting a textual equivalent to the speech input into the input field in a Web page. The method further can include locating an empty input field remaining in the Web page and generating a speech grammar for the input field based upon permitted terms in a core attribute of the empty input field and prompting for speech input for the input field. Finally, the method can include posting the received speech input and the grammar to an automatic speech recognition (ASR) engine and inserting a textual equivalent to the speech input provided by the ASR engine into the empty input field.

    • A method for barging-in a call can include the step of establishing a component as a communication intermediary between at least one speech engine and a telephone gateway. The component can include at least one input media port and at least one output media port, where the input media port and the output media port can interface with selective ones of the speech engines. A barge-in command can be received while an automated prompt is being audibly presented. The signals for the prompt can be conveyed to the component via the output media port. Once the barge-in command has been received, the output media port can be closed to immediately stop the prompt from being presented. A halt command can be conveyed to a prompt generating source so that the source stops generating the prompt.

For example, a system is disclosed which includes at least a Web 2.0 server, a voice browser, and a server-side speech processing system. The Web 2.0 server can serve Web 2.0 content comprising at least one speech-enabled application. The served Web 2.0 content can include voice markup. The voice browser can render the Web 2.0 content received from the Web 2.0 server which includes rendering the voice markup. The server-side speech processing system can handle speech processing operations for the speech-enabled application. Communications with the server-side speech processing system occur via a set of RESTful commands, such as an HTTP GET command, an HTTP POST command, an HTTP PUT command, and an HTTP DELETE command.

A RESTful protocol, such as the ATOM Publishing Protocol (APP), can be utilized to access a remotely located speech engine. The speech engine can accept GET, PUT, POST, and DELETE commands. The speech processing engine can process the speech input and can provide results to the Web 2.0 server. The Web 2.0 server can perform a programmatic action based upon the provided results, which results in different content being presented in the browser.
