    • A moving particle display device comprises an array of display cells, each cell comprising an enclosed volume containing display particles. The display cells are the disposed between the first and second electrode arrangements, and the particles are provided for movement between a first region adjacent the first electrode arrangement and a second region adjacent the second electrode arrangement. Each cell is associated with a group of electrodes (60,62,63) used to control the particle movement within the cell, wherein for most of the cells, the group of electrodes is arranged to provide asymmetry in the electric field lines (140) in the enclosed volume, thereby to influence the particle flow conditions within the display cell.

    • The invention relates to a method and to a switching device (4) and a measurement system (1). In the method according to the invention for determining time differences between measurement signals measured by at least two couple measurement devices (2, 3), a time basis signal is first generated for the measurement devices (2, 3). A common reference signal is further generated by a signal generator (5). The common reference signal is fed to measurement signal inputs (8, 9) of the coupled measuring devices (2, 3) via the switching device (4). A measurement signal is then fed to said measurement signal inputs (8, 9) of the coupled measuring devices (2, 3) and the time position of the measurement signals relative to the reference signal is determined in each of the coupled measuring devices (2, 3). The switching device (4), to this end, has a first measuring device connection (12) and a second measuring device connection (13) connected to the measurement signal inputs (8, 9) of the first measuring device (2) and the second measuring device (3). A reference signal is alternately fed via the measuring device connections (12, 13) of the switching device (4) to the first or the second measuring device (2, 3) by connecting the first measuring device connection (12) to the reference signal input (22) or a first measuring connection (14), or by connecting the second measuring device connection (13) to the reference signal input (22) or the second measuring connection (15).

    • A system and method is disclosed for performing maintenance on a mission critical system while minimizing the unavailability of the system to the user. In one embodiment, the mission critical system is provided with software storage/media including at least a production portion and a separately and/or independently accessible/usable maintenance portion. At the time of manufacture and/or installation, the maintenance and production portions are set to be identical, i.e. contain identical software, and the system is programmed to operate from the production portion. During maintenance operations, the system is taken off-line and the particular maintenance procedures are performed only on the maintenance portion of the software storage, leaving the production portion unaltered. Until the maintenance procedures are complete, if the system is required to be available, it may be brought back on-line and directed to continue to operate from the production portion of the software storage. Once the maintenance procedures are complete, the maintenance portion of the software storage is designated as the production portion and the production portion is designated as the maintenance portion. The system is then directed to operate from the newly maintained production portion.

The clamp leg is bent closed in the manner of a loop onto the end of the contact leg and comprises a clamp opening (6) through which the end of the contact leg protrudes. A clamp edge (8) of the clamp opening located opposed to the clamp leg, together with the clamp leg itself, forms a clamp location in which the electric conductor passed through the clamp opening is clamped before the plug is-mounted on the holder. After mounting of the plug on the holder, the holder extends through the clamp opening between the contact leg and the electric conductor, and the holder and clamp spring are so braced against each other that the electric conductor is clamped between the clamp edge and the holder, thereby forming an electrical connection between holder and electric conductor.
