摘要： The invention discloses a material and an efficient method for the formation of a thermal-spray coating layer of a rare earth fluoride by a process of thermal-spray coating by using a unique thermal spray powder consisting of granules of the rare earth fluoride having a specified average particle diameter. The thermal-spray granules are prepared by granulating primary particles of the rare earth fluoride having a specified average particle diameter from an aqueous slurry containing a binder resin and subjecting the granules to a calcination treatment at a temperature not higher than 600° C.

摘要： Disclosed is a powder consisting of composite barium titanate particles having surface deposition of a water-insoluble rare earth compound such as yttrium oxide. The powder is used advantageously as a base material for the preparation of a sintered body such as ceramic capacitors of small thickness or compact size as compared with conventional powder blends of barium titanate particles and yttrium oxide particles in respect of greatly improved uniformity in the distribution of the yttrium element. The composite barium titanate particles with surface deposition of yttrium oxide can be prepared by conducting hydrolysis of urea in an aqueous medium containing a water-soluble yttrium salt dissolved therein in the presence of barium titanate particles to deposit basic yttrium carbonate on the particle surface followed by calcination of the particles to convert the basic yttrium carbonate into yttrium oxide.

摘要： An improvement is proposed in the so-called urea method for the preparation of fine particles of yttrium oxide, according to which, while an aqueous reaction mixture containing a water-soluble yttrium salt, e.g., nitrate, and urea dissolved therein in specified concentrations is heated at 90.degree. to 100.degree. C. to effect precipitation of yttrium carbonate hydroxide particles followed by calcination of the carbonate hydroxide in air into yttrium oxide, the aqueous reaction mixture is diluted with addition of a specified volume of preheated water within a critical period between incipient appearance of turbidity in the reaction mixture by the precipitation of the carbonate hydroxide and a moment 30 minutes thereafter. In this way, the yttrium oxide particles obtained have a globular particle configuration with a very small average particle diameter D.sub.50 in the range from 0.1 to 0.3 .mu.m and are suitable for use in various fine applications.

摘要： Provided by the invention is a powder of alumina-yttria composite particles of which each particle has a structure consisting of a core of alumina and cladding layer of yttria. By virtue of the microscopically intimate and uniform mixing condition of the two oxide components, the powder is useful as a base material of sintered ceramic bodies or as an ingredient in a protective film on fluorescent lamps. The composite particles are prepared by a process comprising the steps of: suspending alumina particles in an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble yttrium salt such as nitrate; dissolving urea in the aqueous suspension; heating the suspension at an elevated temperature to effect hydrolysis of urea into ammonia and carbon dioxide forming a layer of yttrium basic carbonate on the alumina particles; and calcining the basic carbonate-clad particles of alumina at a specified temperature to convert the basic carbonate of yttrium into yttrium oxide.
