    • A printing ink is vulcanized on the top surface of an operation indicating member consisting of a silicone-type elastomer and is integrated with the elastomer to form a character of a predetermined shape on the top surface. The printing ink consists essentially of a material which exhibits a vulcanizing mechanism similar to that of the silicon-type elastomer. In manufacturing the operation indicating member, the predetermined character is formed by means of the printing ink on a transfer plate disposed within a mold for molding the body of the indicating member. Next, the silicon-type elastomer is introduced into the mold and heated under elevated pressure to vulcanize and integrate the character on the transfer plate and the silicone-type elastomer, whereby the character is integrally embedded in the top surface of the operation indicating member formed in the mold.

    • An interchangeable lens camera system including a camera body and a lens detachably attached to the camera body. A camera-side control unit is disposed in the camera body and produces a control command. A lens-side control unit is disposed in the lens unit and produces status information indicating a plurality of functions in the lens unit. A communication unit transmits the control command outputted from said camera-side control unit to the lens-side control unit and transmits back the status information from the lens-side control unit to the camera. The lens-side control unit transmits a controllable function and an uncontrollable function to the camera-side control unit at the time of initial communication between the camera-side control unit and the lens-side control unit. The camera-side control unit does not transmit the control command in connection with the uncontrollable function, while the lens-side control unit transmits the status information concerning the uncontrollable function to the camera-side control unit, at the time of control communication after termination of the initial communication.

    • In a developing apparatus in electrophotographic machines, the surface of a developer guide facing the surface of a magnetic roller includes a first surface area and a second surface area. The first and second surface areas are curved along the surface of the magnetic roller with a space therebetween, and the second surface area is located downstream of the first surface area. The distance between the first surface area of the developer guide and a portion of the surface of the magnetic roller corresponding to the first surface area is larger than the distance between the second surface area of the developer guide and a portion of the surface of the magnetic roller corresponding to the second surface area. A brush of the developer is formed on the surface of the magnetic roller and touches onto the first surface area of the developer guide.

    • A developing unit includes a developing tank and a toner hopper. The developing tank is disposed to oppose a recording medium rotatably mounted to an image forming apparatus utilizing electrophotography. A developing member conveys a developer and attaches toner to an electrostatic latent image formed on the recording medium to develop the electrostatic latent image. The toner hopper has a toner supply port for supplying toner to the developing tank through a toner replenishing port formed in the developing tank. The developing tank is detachable in a direction of a rotating shaft of the recording medium, and is movable in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the rotating shaft of the recording medium so as to separate from or oppose the recording medium. The toner hopper has a shutter for opening/closing an opening of the toner supply port. A moving mechanism mounted on the developing tank simultaneously provides movement of the developing tank in the direction perpendicular to the direction of the rotating shaft of the recording medium and movement of the toner hopper shutter to open/close the toner supply port when manipulated.
