    • A copper alloy for terminals of the Cu—Ni—Sn—P system or Cu—Ni—Sn—P—Zn system and that has a tensile strength of at least 500 N/mm2, a spring limit of at least 400 N/mm2, a stress relaxation of no more than 10%, a conductivity of at least 30% IACS and a bending workability in terms of a R/t ratio of no more than 2. The spring portion or the entire part of such terminals are produced from the copper alloy, and have an initial insertion/extraction force of 1.5 N to 30 N and a resistance of no more than 3 m&OHgr; at low voltage and low current as initial performance. The terminals experience not more than 20% stress relaxation. The alloy is superior to the conventional bronze, phosphor bronze and Cu—Sn—Fe—P alloys for terminals in terms of tensile strength, spring limit, stress relaxation characteristics and conductivity and, hence, the terminals manufactured from such alloys have higher performance and reliability than terminals made of the conventional copper alloys for terminals.

    • A terminal for charging with large current, used for charge of an electric vehicle for example, is provided, wherein unequal deformation of leaf spring pieces acting as contacts on a female terminal side is prevented for attaining sure electrical contact between a male terminal and a female terminal. The terminal includes: a female terminal having a terminal accommodating chamber with an inlet portion having a larger diameter formed at an inlet thereof for accommodating a rod-like male terminal; a contact spring member with a lot of arced leaf spring pieces integrally linked at one side to form a substantially cylindrical shape and a fixing rib projecting in a radial direction to abut on an inlet wall portion of the inlet portion; and a cap having a terminal insertion hole to put the male terminal therethrough and attached to the inlet portion to hold the fixing rib for fixing the contact spring member in the terminal accommodating chamber. Thus, each of free ends of the leaf spring pieces is capable of freely sliding on a surface of the terminal accommodating chamber in the axial direction upon insertion or pulling-out of the male terminal so that each of the leaf spring pieces surely gets in contact with an outer surface of the male terminal for attaining sure electrical contact between the male and female terminals.

    • A method for shifting a terminal which has been incompletely inserted into a terminal accommodating chamber of a connector housing of a connector for use in a wiring harness for motor vehicles to completely insert the terminal by the use of an inserted position correcting jig is provided. The method includes inserting a front end portion of the inserted terminal position correcting jig into an opening formed in a peripheral wall extending from a rear portion of the connector housing. The opening functions as a pivot center and has a correcting operation checking member therein to thereby shift the jig toward the housing pivoting on the opening. The jig is thus fitted with the rear end portion of the terminal which is still in an incompletely inserted state so as to shift the terminal to a completely inserted position and securely lock the terminal. Since the correcting operation checking member formed in the opening is removed when the front end portion of the jig is inserted, whether or not the correcting operation is perfectly done can be checked from outside by a removal or deformation of the correcting operation checking member.

A groove for allowing the passage of the guide projection therethrough is formed in the engagement arm.
