    • A data converting apparatus includes a storage unit that stores encoded meta-definition information, a data converting function, a conversion rule table, and a conversion rule; an input unit that receives input of data to be converted; a detecting unit that uses the encoded meta-definition information to detect metadata codes for a conversion source and a conversion destination for which the conversion rule code matches; a determining unit that determines whether the detected metadata codes match; a specifying unit that, by referring to a conversion rule and based on the determination result at the determining unit, specifies the data converting function, according to the combination of the metadata codes for the conversion source and for the conversion destination; and a converting unit that uses the specified data converting function to convert the data of the conversion source to have a property prescribed by metadata for the conversion destination.

    • A harmonic wave oscillating system includes a solid-state laser oscillator, a converting waveguide converting a wavelength of a laser light oscillated from the solid-state laser oscillator to oscillate a harmonic wave, an incident-side end face of the laser light, an emitting-side end face of the harmonic wave, a first side face and a second side face. The emitting-side end face includes a polished surface 6 formed on the side of the first side face 1a and a light scattering surface formed on the side of the second side face 1b. The first side face 1a and polished surface 6 are intersected at an obtuse angle θ, and the second side face 1b and light scattering surface 5 are intersected at an obtuse or right angle α.

    • A harmonic wave oscillating device 1 has a supporting body 2, a wavelength converting layer 3, an upper side adhesive layer 8 adhering the wavelength converting layer 3 and the supporting body 2, an upper side substrate 5 provided on the side of an upper face of the wavelength converting layer 3, and an upper side adhesive layer 7 adhering the wavelength converting layer 3 and the upper side substrate 5. The wavelength converting layer 3 is made of a ferroelectric single crystal and has a channel type optical waveguide 10 with a periodic polarization inversion structure 11 formed therein. The wavelength converting layer 3 has a width “w” of 1.5 mm or smaller viewed in the direction “A” perpendicular to light propagating in the optical waveguide. At least one of the supporting body 2 and the upper side substrate 5 has a volume resistivity lower than that of the ferroelectric single crystal.
