The present invention provides a plasma display device including a plasma display panel in which a pair of substrates at least whose front side is transparent are disposed to oppose each other so as to form a discharge space between the substrates, barrier ribs for dividing the discharge space into a plurality of discharge spaces are disposed on at least one substrate, electrode groups are disposed on the substrates so as to produce discharge in the discharge spaces divided with the barrier ribs, and a green phosphor layer that emits light by the discharge is provided, wherein the green phosphor layer includes a mixed phosphor containing a short persistence Mn2+-activated green phosphor with a 1/10 persistence time of more than 2 msec but less than 5 msec and either a Ce3+-activated green phosphor or an Eu2+-activated green phosphor that has a light emission peak in a wavelength range of not less than 490 nm and less than 560 nm.

    • A mask structure of a color picture tube includes a number of grid wires stretched over a frame in the same direction and separated from one another, and a damp wire stretched to traverse the number of grid wires in contact with the number of grid wires. The damp wire is formed of a tungsten core wire coated with a secondary emission semiconductor material layer. Thus, art asymmetrical electron lens is formed by a potential difference generated between the grid wire and the damp wire, so that an electron beam having passed through a spacing between the grid wires is deflected in a converging direction. Therefore, the electron beam is guided onto a zone of a phosphor screen shaded by the damp wire. Accordingly, a black line, which would otherwise appear because the electron beam is shielded by the damp wire, becomes inconspicuous. Namely, the display quality is elevated.

Each of the bridge areas serves as an electron-beam stopping area. In addition, at least two horizontally adjacent ones of the slots are vertically shifted at a fixed value equal to or greater than a half of the vertical pitch. The electron beams are scanned perpendicular to the slots. The vertical pitch of the slots is set at a value ranging from 0.2 mm to 0.5 mm. Each of the bridges preferably has a fixed vertical width ranging from 0.02 mm to 0.08 mm.
