    • An IC socket includes a socket body with a plurality of contacts disposed therein, a cover rotatablely coupled to the socket body and at least one slider in the socket body. The socket body defines a receiving space for receiving an IC package, and the cover has a driving member. The slider has one end engageable with the driving member and the other end extending toward the receiving space. When the IC socket is in a close position, the slider touches the IC package or close to the IC package to keep a reliable connection between the IC socket and the IC package.

    • An electrical connector connects a CPU to a circuit board. Conductive contacts received in passageways defined in a base of the connector include a base section, a fixed section extending longitudinally from one end of the base section, and a connection section extending from an opposite end of the base section. A contact section is formed at an end of the connection section. The fixed section extends through the corresponding passageway and beyond the base to contact the main circuit board. Thus, terminals of the CPU can be received between the base section and the contact section of the corresponding contacts of the present invention. Furthermore, the structure of the contacts reduces the electrical conduction length thereof.

    • An electrical connector includes a dielectric base plate in which steel and copper strips are embedded. The steel and copper strips are respectively arranged in opposite sides of the base plate substantially perpendicular to and interconnected to each other whereby when the base is subject to a heating process, the steel and copper strips limit and control thermal expansion in different directions of the base plate and reduce differences in thermal expansion between the base plate and a circuit board to which the connector is mounted. Furthermore, a method for achieving substantially uniform thermal expansion of a dielectric plate is also provided and comprises the steps of (1) providing a dielectric plate made by injection molding and (2) fixing steel and copper strips thereto for limiting and controlling thermal expansion of the plate in different directions to achieve substantially uniform thermal expansion of the plate.
