    • A high-speed signal generator. A digital signal processing (DSP) block generates a set of N (where N is an integer and N≧2) parallel digital sub-band signals, each digital sub-band signal having frequency components within a spectral range between 0 Hz and ±Fs/2, where Fs is a sample rate of the digital sub-band signals. A respective Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) processes each digital sub-band signal to generate a corresponding analog sub-band signal, each DAC having a sample rate of Fs/2. A combiner combines the analog sub-band signals to generate an output analog signal having frequency components within a spectral range between 0 Hz and ±NFs/2.

    • A rotor blade is provided having a hollow airfoil and a root. The hollow airfoil has a cavity and one or more cooling apertures. The root is attached to the airfoil, and has a leading edge conduit, at least one mid-body conduit, and a trailing edge conduit. The conduits are operable to permit airflow through the root and into the cavity. Each conduit has a centerline. The leading edge conduit includes an inlet having a forward side, a suction side, and a pressure side that diverge from the centerline of the leading edge conduit, and an aft side. Each of the mid-body conduits includes an inlet having a suction side and a pressure side that diverge from the centerline of the mid-body conduit, and an aft side and a forward side. The trailing edge conduit includes an inlet having a suction side and a pressure side that diverge from the centerline of the trailing edge conduit. The trailing edge conduit inlet further includes a forward side and an aft side.

    • A method and apparatus is provided for simultaneously accessing a broadcast channel which allows for maintaining registration on the broadcast channel and a second channel. The broadcast channel includes a reverse link access channel for a portable communication device (120) to send registration messages to a base station and the method initially includes the step of determining whether a predetermined event requiring registration of the portable communication device on the broadcast channel has been detected (302, 304, 306). After detecting the predetermined event, it is determined whether the portable communication device is communicating on the second channel (308). If not communicating on the second channel (308), registration on the broadcast channel is accomplished by transmitting a registration message on the reverse link access channel (320). If communicating on the second channel (308), the registration message is transmitted on the broadcast channel asynchronously (340) or, if supported by the base station (110), as a databurst of a packet of information on the second channel (330).
