    • [Problem] To provide a metal gasket capable of realizing a uniform surface pressure by a bead of the metal gasket and a uniform collapse ratio of the bead, while restricting deformation of flanges upon bolt fastening.[Mechanism for Solving the Problem] A metal gasket to be provided for sealing joint surfaces between two members. The metal gasket includes: a flow passage opening (4) which corresponds to a flow passage definitely provided between and through the two members; multiple bolt holes (3), through which bolts for tightening the two members to each other are penetrated, respectively; and a bead (5). The bead (5) is configured with a height and a width which become higher and wider from the vicinity of each bolt hole (3) in a direction separating therefrom, respectively.

    • The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which can enlarge an effective display region without lowering a light quantity and can reduce a thickness and a weight thereof. A thin-film spacers having resiliency is arranged in the inside of a metal frame for holding a liquid crystal display panel. The spacer includes protrusions and a liquid crystal display panel is fixed by utilizing the resiliency of the protrusions. Further, by using resin material having high reflectance as a material of the spacer, it is possible to suppress the leaking of light from a light guide plate so that the lowering of luminance of the liquid crystal display device can be obviated.

    • An electrically-controlled throttle valve apparatus includes a motor, a speed reducing mechanism for reducing the rotation speed that is transmitted from the motor, a throttle valve connected to the speed reducing mechanism, and a force applying arrangement for applying force to the throttle valve in the direction of returning the valve to its initial position and for adjusting the opening of the throttle valve by driving the motor. Specification parameters of the motor, the speed reducing mechanism, and the force applying arrangement have values such that the operation time t from the minimum opening to the maximum opening of the throttle valve, which is determined by an evaluation equation obtained from equations of motion of the throttle valve, is less than a prescribed target operation time t* of the throttle valve. Furthermore, the resistance and the induction voltage constant of the motor are determined so as to satisfy a constraint equation obtained based on Ohm's law.

    • Provided by the invention is a method for the preparation of a magnetically anisotropic permanent magnet mainly consisting of crystallites of the Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 B phase. The method comprises the steps of:(a) preparing an amorphous alloy of neodymium, iron and boron in molar fractions corresponding to the Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 B phase or a nanocomposite of the Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 B/Fe.sub.3 B or Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 B/Fe system, for example, by the melt-spun method; and (b) subjecting the amorphous alloy of neodymium, iron and boron to a heat treatment in a magnetic field of at least 3 T (tesla) at a temperature in the range from 550 to 800.degree. C. for a length of time in the range from 1.times.10.sup.2 to 1.times.10.sup.4 seconds in an atmosphere of a non-reactive gas or vacuum.

    • A method for forming an extruded weather strip having a trim portion and a lip having a thickened end portion.
