    • A bus assembly is provided for a motor control center (MCC). The MCC includes an enclosure, an electrical switching apparatus, such as a circuit breaker, which is removably coupled to the enclosure, and at least one subunit. The bus assembly includes a horizontal bus, a number of vertical buses, and a number of short circuit protective devices (SCPDs), such as fuses or circuit breakers. The horizontal bus is electrically connected to the circuit breaker, each vertical bus electrically connects a corresponding subunit to the horizontal bus, and each SCPD is disposed between the horizontal bus and a corresponding one of the vertical buses. The SCPDs reduce the peak current level and arc flash energy experienced by the subunits, and relatively quickly clear the arcing event.

    • A communication system is provided for a motor control center. The motor control center includes an enclosure and a plurality of subunits. The enclosure comprises a framework for dividing the enclosure into a plurality of compartments. The subunits are removably disposed within the compartments. The communication system includes a mounting bracket fixedly attached to the framework, within a corresponding one of the compartments, and a communication module mounted on the mounting bracket. The communication module includes a housing and a number of features such as, for example and without limitation, a DIP switch and electrical connector(s), disposed on the housing. Accordingly, when the subunit is removed from the compartment, the communication module remains, fixed to the enclosure framework. The mounting bracket includes a hinge that allows the communication module to pivot with respect to the compartment to provide access to the features.

    • A decorative trim assembly for unit doors on a motor control unit. The decorative trim assembly comprises individual bezels that provide information about the motor control unit while distinguishing the motor control unit from other motor control units. Posts project from the back surfaces of the bezels and are received in holes in the unit doors. Retaining clips frictionally engage the posts and secure the bezels to the unit doors. Additional bezels are modularly connected to the secured bezel. The secured bezel contains a camouflaged cutout member that allows access to the unit door latch when removed. The unit door may be hingeably attached to the motor control unit along one edge of the unit door, and the unit door may contain quarter-turn latches along an opposing edge to secure the unit door to the motor control unit.
