摘要： A system and method are provided for coordinating the installation and removal a motor control center subunit with the power connection and interruption thereof A system of interlocks and indicators causes an operator to install a motor control center subunit into a motor control center, and connect supply and control power thereto, in a particular order. Once installed, a test module system included with the subunit provides for pass-through connection of signals from equipment test points. The test module can thus relay internal conditions of the subunit to the operator without a need for disengaging or opening the subunit.

A window is disposed in the front panel of the subunit housing and is positioned to provide a view of the plurality of line connectors.

摘要： A method of protecting multiple feeder circuits fed from a shared electrical distribution system is provided. The method includes providing a bypass line, providing bypass switches in the bypass line, providing a fault lockout protection controller coupled to the bypass line. The bypass line bypasses separable circuit breaker contacts in each of the feeder circuits between a load side and a line side of the electrical distribution system. The bypass switches selectively couple each of the feeder circuits to the bypass line. The method further includes controlling the fault lockout protection controller to detect the existence of a fault condition on the load side of the feeder circuit selectively coupled to the bypass line prior to closing the separable circuit breaker contacts of the feeder circuit; and controlling the fault lockout protection controller to prevent closure of the separable circuit breaker contacts upon detection of the fault condition.

The MCC includes an enclosure, an electrical switching apparatus, such as a circuit breaker, which is removably coupled to the enclosure, and at least one subunit. The bus assembly includes a horizontal bus, a number of vertical buses, and a number of short circuit protective devices (SCPDs), such as fuses or circuit breakers. The horizontal bus is electrically connected to the circuit breaker, each vertical bus electrically connects a corresponding subunit to the horizontal bus, and each SCPD is disposed between the horizontal bus and a corresponding one of the vertical buses. The SCPDs reduce the peak current level and arc flash energy experienced by the subunits, and relatively quickly clear the arcing event.

摘要： A communication system is provided for a motor control center. The motor control center includes an enclosure and a plurality of subunits. The enclosure comprises a framework for dividing the enclosure into a plurality of compartments. The subunits are removably disposed within the compartments. The communication system includes a mounting bracket fixedly attached to the framework, within a corresponding one of the compartments, and a communication module mounted on the mounting bracket. The communication module includes a housing and a number of features such as, for example and without limitation, a DIP switch and electrical connector(s), disposed on the housing. Accordingly, when the subunit is removed from the compartment, the communication module remains, fixed to the enclosure framework. The mounting bracket includes a hinge that allows the communication module to pivot with respect to the compartment to provide access to the features.

摘要： A defeatable interlock mechanism for an electrical equipment enclosure requiring a circuit breaker to be tripped before opening includes a support platform having an operator handle stem operably connected to the circuit breaker, an interlock slide plate slidably positioned along the support platform and having a keyhole-shaped slot for receiving a door interlock pin therein, and a lever operably connected to the interlock slide plate and configured to defeat the interlock mechanism when the door interlock pin is engaged with the slot. The lever is pivotally supported at a fulcrum point intermediate the ends of the lever and extends through an escutcheon to an exterior surface of the enclosure. Movement of the lever causes the interlock slide plate to disengage the door interlock pin and allow the unit door to open even while the circuit breaker is in the “on” position.

The decorative trim assembly comprises individual bezels that provide information about the motor control unit while distinguishing the motor control unit from other motor control units. Posts project from the back surfaces of the bezels and are received in holes in the unit doors. Retaining clips frictionally engage the posts and secure the bezels to the unit doors. Additional bezels are modularly connected to the secured bezel. The secured bezel contains a camouflaged cutout member that allows access to the unit door latch when removed. The unit door may be hingeably attached to the motor control unit along one edge of the unit door, and the unit door may contain quarter-turn latches along an opposing edge to secure the unit door to the motor control unit.
