    • Trailing edge coolant flow passages 100 are generally sized and determined by the available width 102 of the trailing edge. In such circumstances it may be difficult to achieve the desired flow control due to the limitations upon casting and moulding of narrow coolant passages within the constraints of that width 102. The present invention provides flow control features 103, 203 which act to reduce the available cross-sectional area and so provide for flow control and normally like for like reduction in such flow. It will be understood that coolant flow is essentially a parasitic effect upon engine performance, thus reduced coolant flow for desired operational performance has benefits. Due to the reinforcing effect of the flow control features 103, 203 it is possible to also provide wider than previously acceptable coolant flow passages within trailing edges with the reduction in available area provided by the flow control features 103, 203.

    • A combination 37-wire unilay stranded conductor includes a 19-wire stable unilay construction includes two layers of wires on a core wire, each having a diameter D, to define a hexagon that circumscribes the 19 nineteen wires. A corner wire is positioned at each corner of the hexagon, the corner wires being formed to provide bearing surfaces facing radially outwardly and defining a circle having a diameter of approximately 4.7 D. A third layer of wires includes a smaller diameter wire having a diameter of approximately 0.8 D contacting each bearing surface, and pairs of two wires each having diameters D are positioned between the smaller wires and are nested in a recess formed by two wires in a preceding underlying layer to define a substantially circular outer cable configuration. The wires in the conductor are in contact with at least one wire in a previous inner layer and with circumferentially adjacent wires in the same layer thereby providing a stable conductor having a circular outer configuration without undesired gaps between adjacent wires in the third layer. A method and apparatus for making the 37-wire conductor are described.

    • A simple, convenient, contaminant-resistant padding system for adding protective padding to a wide variety of hospital operating room and non-hospital related equipment is disclosed. The padding system includes an anchor having a first surface configured to be affixed to a mounting surface of an object to be protected and a second surface. The anchor also includes a protruding element formed on the second surface. The protruding element extends outward from the second surface. The system also includes a pad having a deformable recess configured to form-fit over the protruding element to hold the pad in place adjacent the mounting surface of the object to be protected. In various embodiments, the protruding element consists of one of the following shapes: hook-shaped, round, ball, oval, square, or rectangular. The deformable recess in the pad has a complementary shape. In various other embodiments, the pads can be shaped to fit over and protect one or multiple sides of an object to be protected.

    • In an apparatus for cable manufacture, a cage strander rotates about a line axis at a chosen rotational speed. Bobbins supported by the strander dispense round conductors downstream of the cage strander. A forming apparatus downstream of the strander receives the conductors and forms them into many complementary segmented preshaped wires each having the desired cross-sectional profile in a final compact conductor. The conductors are positioned in a way that substantially corresponds to the orientations among wires in the final conductor. A first drive rotates the forming apparatus about the line axis substantially at the rotational speed of the strander. A second drive drives the forming apparatus. The drives are synchronized so that the conductors close about the core and cause the sides of adjacent wires to abut against each other to produce both the desired lay and a cable substantially without interstices between the wires forming the twisted conductor.

    • A hinge bar connector assembly to connect spaced apart and separate ramps to a flat bed trailer of the type commonly known as a "hot shot" trailer of a semi-truck and trailer combination. Such trailers have spaced apart sockets or receiving channels around the peripheral edges of the trailer, including along both sides as well as along the front edge and the rear edge. The connector assembly in accordance with this invention has a first connecting member with two spaced apart legs to seat in a pair of adjacent receiving channels or sockets which support a pair of laterally spaced apart hinges and a removable hinge rod on which one end of a ramp having a connectable hinge member is pivotally connected. It also has a second identical connecting member seated in a pair of adjacent receiving channels or sockets which are spaced apart from the first connecting member to which a second ramp having a connectable hinge member is pivotally connected. The ramp members and their respective connecting members are spaced apart whatever distance desired for the items to be rolled up or down on said pair of ramp member for loading or unloading the trailer.
