    • There is provided a waterproof connector including a plurality of terminals (1) from which stabilizers (3) for preventing reverse-insertion project, a connector housing (10) having terminal containing chambers (11) and a seal mount (12), and a mat seal (20) made of an elastic material, having through-holes (23) into which the respective terminals and electric wires can be fitted, fitted to the seal mount of the connector housing before the terminals are inserted into the terminal containing chambers, and making close contact with the outer peripheries of the electric wires to waterproof between the connector housing and the electric wires. The inner peripheral surface of each through-hole of the mat seal (20) has, at the first half thereof in the direction in which the terminal and the electric wire are press-fitted, an electric wire seal part (25) and also has, at the last half thereof, a reverse-insertion prevention part (24).

    • A female terminal includes an electric contact portion that has a cylindrical box portion and an elastic contact spring disposed in the inner part of the box portion. An abutment portion of the metal plate is disposed on the upper wall portion of the box portion, and an indent is formed, from the outside of the box portion, at the upper wall portion having the abutment portion disposed thereon. A projection portion is provided at the inside of the box portion, and an apex of the projection portion is made to be a contact portion with respect to the male terminal.

    • The goal is to enhance the productivity by reducing the cost of a die. A method for selectively forming a female terminal (30) and a male terminal (40), each terminal having a square tubular box portion (31, 41) in its front and a wire crimping portion (38, 39, 48, 49) in its rear, from blanks (20) punched into a common shape is provided. In a step of punching the blank, a front projection (22) which becomes a spring piece (32) when the female terminal is produced and becomes a male tab (42) when the male terminal is produced is projected from the front end of a strip-like base plate (21) constituting a bottom plate of the square tubular box portion, and a blank in which right and left projections (28, 29) constituting the wire crimping portions are projected is formed in the rear of the base plate. In the subsequent pressing step, the female terminal and the male terminal are selectively formed in response to whether the front projection (22) is folded backward or left as it is, while the blank is made common for the box portions.
