摘要： A catalyst for purifying exhaust gases exhibits not only effective purifying characteristics even in a low temperature range such as immediately after an engine starts but also high exhaust gas purifying ability. In the catalyst for purifying exhaust gases of a first aspect of the invention, HC adsorbed at low temperature are released at high temperature and the released HC are purified by a catalyst metal. This catalyst for purifying exhaust gases has an excellent advantage in purifying HC at low temperature as well as excellent exhaust gas purifying ability.

摘要： A catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas includes an upstream side catalyst and a downstream side catalyst. The upstream side catalyst is disposed on an upstream side with respect to an exhaust gas flow, and the downstream side catalyst is disposed on a downstream side with respect thereto. The upstream side catalyst includes a first loading layer, being composed of an alumina containing Ba and La at least, and a first noble metal, being held by the first loading layer and being at least one member selected from the group consisting of Pd, Pd and Rh and Pd and Pt. Alternatively, in addition to the aluminum, the first loading layer can be composed of Ce, a solid solution of Ce and Zr and a solid solution of Ce, Zr and Y in an amount as less as possible. The downstream side catalyst includes a second loading layer, being composed of at least one member selected from the group consisting of an alumina containing La, Ce, a solid solution of Ce and Zr and a solid solution of Ce, Zr and Y, and a second noble metal, being held by the second loading layer and being composed of at least one member selected from the group consisting of Pt, Pd and Rh.

摘要： A catalyst for purifying exhaust gases comprises a catalyst carrier made of potassium titanate and a noble metal loaded on the catalyst carrier. The catalyst carrier is substantially free from alumina. This catalyst can oxidize at least hydrocarbons in exhaust gases at a high catalytic activity even at low temperatures, and at the same time can suppress SO.sub.2 from converting into sulfates. This catalyst does not employ substance like alumina exhibiting solid acidity as a catalyst carrier. Further, this catalyst can be used for purifying exhaust gases from diesel engines to suppress particulates and sulfates from being emitted, and to improve conversions of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.

摘要： A matrix-addressed liquid crystal display device is constructed of a pair of substrates facing each other with liquid crystal cells arranged in n rows and m columns on one of the substrates. Switches included in each cell comprise field effect transistors with n address lines forming a common connection for the gate electrodes of the field effect transistors in each row and m signal lines forming a common connection for the drain electrode or source electrode of the field effect transistors in each column. A common electrode is arranged on the other substrate and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the substrates. An address line drive circuit supplies a sequential scanning signal to the n address lines; and, a signal line drive circuit supplies a display signal to the m signal lines.An asymmetrical display signal is selected whereby the voltage applied cross the liquid crystal layer is controlled to be a pure AC signal with no DC component.
