    • A method of fabricating a diffraction grating by utilizing a single substrate comprises the steps of forming a photosensitive material layer and a light transmission reducing film having a predetermined pattern integrally with each other on the substrate, exposing the photosensitive material layer by exposure irradiation light via the light transmission reducing film, and developing the photosensitive material layer after exposure. It is composed so that the direction of exposure and the direction of development are opposite to each other. It is possible to fabricate a diffraction grating in which each grating is formed on a predetermined substrate at a predetermined pitch and a root portion in a cross-section of each diffraction grating is constricted. In this way, it is possible to reduce or eliminate interfaces, so that the generation of noise light can be effectively suppressed and a diffraction grating having a high diffraction efficiency can be made.

    • The invention has an object to provide a liquid crystal composite capable of sufficiently reducing the scattering of light in a focal conic state, a liquid crystal display element excellent in improvements of a color balance and a contrast, and electronic paper using the same. The content of a chiral material is higher in a cholesteric liquid crystal LCg for G than in a cholesteric liquid crystal LCb for B, and is higher in a cholesteric liquid crystal LCr for R than in the cholesteric liquid crystal LCg for G. The cholesteric liquid crystal LCr for R is prepared by mixing about 5 wt % of a chiral material CHl1 of an L-form with a base liquid crystal of an R-form, which contains 27 wt % of CHr1 of the R-form exhibiting a liquid crystallizability for a nematic liquid crystal LCn, and 3 wt % of a chiral material CHr2 of the R-form exhibiting no crystallizability.

    • In construction of a tremolo unit for an electric guitar, a bridge is coupled to a swingable bridge base in an arrangement movable in the string direction and provided with a string hole formed there through, a presser piece is received in the string hole for movement in the string direction, and a lock bolt screwed into the bridge forces the presser piece to press a string to the wall of the string hole with a string bead being locked against the lower end of the string hole. A dual fixing mechanism based on string pressing and bead locking well alleviates damage on the string construction caused by pressure application. The bridge and the presser piece are both made of iron-type metal for improvement in tone color of musical tones generated by the electric guitar.
