    • A camera includes: an imaging unit that captures an image of a subject and obtains image data; a similarity level calculation unit that calculates a similarity level indicating a level of similarity of an image within a search frame to a template image in correspondence to each search frame position assumed as the search frame is shifted within a search target area set in each of frames input in time series from the imaging unit; a subject position determining unit that determines as a subject position a position assumed by the search frame, at which the similarity level is highest, in correspondence to each frame; a subject tracking unit that tracks the subject position from frame to frame; and a rangefinding unit that measures a distance (subject distance) from the camera to the subject, wherein: the similarity level calculation unit calculates the similarity level by factoring in rangefinding results.

    • A liquid crystal display device which can reduce a scale of the whole counter-electrode-signal drive circuits is provided. The liquid crystal display device includes: a substrate; a plurality of counter electrodes which are formed on the substrate corresponding to pixels; a plurality of counter electrode signal lines which are formed on the substrate, are electrically made conductive with the counter electrodes, extend in the X direction, and are arranged parallel to each other in the Y direction which intersects the X direction; and counter electrode signal drive circuits having control signal outputting parts which are mounted on the substrate at a rate of one control signal outputting part for two counter electrode signal lines.

    • A redundant communication system includes a first control device which calculates a control command value of an electric power device, and outputs first and second command signals; a second control device which controls the electric power device on the basis of one of the first and second control command values; and primary and secondary communication lines for respectively transmitting the first and second command signals to the second control device. The second control device comprises: a primary communication line abnormality determining unit which determines that the primary communication line is abnormal when a non-reception state or an abnormality state of the first command signal continues during a predetermined period; and a control command value switching unit which selects one of the first and second control command values in a switching manner and switches the selection from the first to the second control command value within the predetermined period.

    • A liquid crystal display device which can reduce a circuit scale of a drive circuit is provided. A TFT substrate of the liquid crystal display device includes a pixel circuit in each pixel, and the pixel circuit includes a thin film transistor, a pixel electrode which is connected to a source side of the thin film transistor, and a common electrode which is one planar transparent electrode extending in a display region in a planar shape. A vertical drive circuit includes a transistor which is driven by a control signal voltage including a clock signal from a drive IC, and constitutes a damper for a high voltage. The drive IC outputs an equalizing switch signal voltage to equalizing switches which connect the common electrode and data signal lines.

    • A communication apparatus which occupies small space and yet can be connected with numerous external cables and which permits a cooling arrangement to be constructed at low cost. An information processing device constituting the communication apparatus has external cable connection ports provided on both top and bottom surfaces thereof, and thus, more external cables can be connected than in the case of connecting the cables to the side surfaces. Also, the external cables connected to the ports are guided along the top and bottom surfaces toward the front of the communication apparatus with their heights restricted by external cable covers and, therefore, do not occupy substantial space above and below the device. Further, since the external cables are connected to the top and bottom surfaces, the front and rear surfaces of the device have spare space, making it possible to construct a ventilation arrangement such as vent holes and fans.
