    • A system of reporting vehicle telemetry to a vehicle operator or other user includes a device that removably attaches to the vehicle data port to monitor vehicle operating conditions and communicate with vehicle control modules. A user may configure the device without making permanent changes to the vehicle. The device understands and interprets vehicle communications protocols and can send diagnostic commands to the control modules to allow user-customized text or data to be shown or indicated using built-in or factory installed vehicle displays, lights, or sounds. The system permits showing of multiple user-configured pages of vehicle data or other information and provides real-time updates and configurable switchable profile and display settings. The device monitors factory installed vehicle buttons, switches, knobs, and sensors, and allows use of those items to perform customization and configuration tasks without the need for peripheral input accessories connected to the device. The device permits the user to configure vehicle operating parameter limits, make custom calculations, generate new information, and provide user-desired information to the vehicle operator or other user.

    • A handwritten Chinese character input method and system is provided to allow users to enter Chinese characters to a data processor by adding less than three strokes and one selection movement such as mouse clicking or stylus or finger tapping. The system is interactive, predictive, and intuitive to use. By adding one or two strokes which are used to start writing a Chinese character, or in some case even no strokes are needed, users can find a desired character from a list of characters. The list is context sensitive. It varies depending on the prior character entered. Compared to other existing systems, this system can save users considerable time and efforts to entering handwritten characters.

    • A method of concurrently communicating data from a vehicle data port to a plurality of computing devices includes a transceiver that handles a plurality of requests from a plurality of independent computing devices. The transceiver is connected to the vehicle data port either directly or indirectly through a pass-thru interface. The plurality of computing devices may each send separate (that is, independent and diverse) requests for data or communications to the vehicle through the transceiver. The transceiver maintains a queue of communications requests from each computing device and orders and sequences the vehicle communications so that timing requirements are properly met and collisions and other types of problems are avoided. The transceiver may also handle duplicative requests by sending only one request to the vehicle data port but providing responses to each requesting computing device.
