    • An evaporator for an automotive air conditioner having a plurality of U-flow tubes therein arranged side by side so that spaces are provided for air centers secured between the sidewalls of the tubes. Each tube is formed from a pair of identical plates that have a centralized divider rib that separates the tubes into separate side flow passages joined by a lower interconnecting crossover passage. The tubes have a plurality of flow ribs indented and joined in a predetermined pattern therein to form discrete fluid flow sections within each tube. The ribs are interconnected in such a manner that the sections effectively direct and tailor the flow of the heat exchanger fluid to a lower and intermediate section of the tube at the turning of the flow from one section to another to reduce, or substantially eliminate, dry out areas in each tube, thereby increasing heat exchanger tube and evaporator efficiency.

    • An oil cooler center has a sinusoidally shaped plate with a center length which extends across the width of a longitudinal flow path through an oil cooler and with a center pitch formed between a pair of inclined walls that form a plurality of spaced oil chambers in the oil cooler having oil flow diverted therethrough by louvers formed in the walls to form inlets and outlets to and from the spaced oil chambers and wherein the louvers are inclined to mix the oil up and down in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal flow path so as to break up a thermal boundary layer on the inner surface of the outside walls of an oil cooler.

    • The disclosure relates to a unitary heat pump air conditioner (Unitary HPAC) that includes a refrigerant loop having a condenser, a refrigerant expansion device, and an evaporator hydraulically connected in series. An electrically driven compressor is provided to circulate a two-phase refrigerant through the refrigerant loop to transfer heat from the evaporator to the condenser. The unitary HPAC also includes a cold side chiller configured to hydraulically connect to a cold side coolant loop and is in thermal communication with the evaporator. The unitary HPAC further includes a hot side chiller configured to hydraulically connect to a hot side coolant loop and is in thermal communication with the condenser. The refrigerant loop transfer heat from the cold side chiller to the hot side chiller, thereby cooling the cold side coolant loop and heating the hot side coolant loop. The components of the unitary HPAC are mounted on a common platform.
