    • There is provided an optical recording apparatus for recording data on an optical disk. The optical recording apparatus includes: an optical pickup unit which emits an optical signal to a predetermined track on an optical disk and detects reflection light; an optical pickup controller which controls a location of the optical pickup unit so that the optical signal is emitted along a predetermined tracking level on the track; a track address detector which extracts track address information of the track from an electrical signal proportional to light intensity of the reflection light; and a controller which changes the tracking level and controls the optical pickup controller to emit the optical signal along to the changed tracking level, if no track address information is detected in a predetermined time by the track address detector. Therefore, it is possible to improve detection performance of track address information, thereby enhancing recording performance.

Accordingly, an optimal write strategy, in which the optical determination factor does not exceed the reference value, may be determined.

    • An optical disc recording/reproducing apparatus and optimum bias power decision method therefor, comprising an optical pickup which emits light on an optical disc and recording data, a driving unit which drives a laser diode provided in the optical pickup to emit light corresponding to a certain bias power, a bias power variation unit which varies the bias power within a predetermined range on a predetermined unit basis and outputs the varied bias power to the driving unit, and a bit error rate measurement unit which reproduces the recorded data, compares the reproduced data and the recorded data, and measures at least one bit error rate. A controller is further provided which calculates a relationship equation between the measured bit error rate and the varied and output bias power upon recording the data, and decides an optimum bias power necessary to reproduce and record data based on at least one maximum value and at least one minimum value in a curve obtained from the relationship equation.
